Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute comprehensive preventative maintenance services, including engine oil changes, filter replacements, and chassis lubrication, strictly adhering to manufacturer and dealership standards.
- Perform a full range of tire services, such as mounting, dismounting, rotation, balancing, and flat repairs, ensuring proper seating and inflation.
- Conduct thorough and detailed multi-point vehicle inspections, meticulously documenting findings on vehicle condition reports to accurately recommend necessary maintenance or repairs.
- Service and replace common wear-and-tear components with precision, including brake pads, rotors, calipers, batteries, belts, and hoses.
- Perform complete fluid exchanges and top-offs for various vehicle systems, including coolant, transmission, brake, and power steering fluids.
- Diagnose and address basic service needs related to steering, suspension, and alignment issues, performing adjustments and component replacements as required.
- Utilize handheld and computer-based diagnostic tools to retrieve and interpret trouble codes, assisting in the identification of potential vehicle malfunctions.
- Test drive vehicles before and after service to verify concerns, confirm the effectiveness of repairs, and ensure a high standard of quality control.
- Maintain a meticulously clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring compliance with all company policies and OSHA/EPA safety regulations.
- Accurately and legibly document all services performed, parts used, and labor time on repair orders to ensure clear communication and correct billing.
- Handle and dispose of used fluids, tires, and other hazardous materials in an environmentally responsible and compliant manner.
- Inspect and replace vehicle lighting systems, wiper blades, and cabin/engine air filters to ensure optimal visibility and air quality.
- Perform state and/or local vehicle safety and emissions inspections where certified and applicable.
- Operate and maintain all shop equipment, including vehicle lifts, tire machines, wheel balancers, and alignment racks, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
- Communicate effectively with Service Advisors and Parts Advisors to report vehicle status, confirm necessary parts, and provide clear explanations for service recommendations.
- Assist senior-level technicians with more complex diagnostic procedures and major repair jobs, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused team environment.
- Reset maintenance indicators and Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) after service completion using appropriate tools and procedures.
- Manage personal tool inventory, ensuring all necessary tools are maintained in good working order for efficient job performance.
- Participate actively in ongoing technical training and certification programs to stay current with evolving automotive technologies and repair methodologies.
- Provide an exceptional level of service, ensuring that every vehicle is returned to the customer in a clean and fully operational condition.
