Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Supervise, train, and motivate a team of Gift Shop Associates, providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback to foster a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Directly manage the daily operational flow of the gift shop, including executing opening and closing procedures, assigning daily tasks, and ensuring the sales floor is impeccably maintained and ready for business.
  • Champion and model exemplary customer service, actively engaging with guests, and empowering the team to resolve customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally to ensure a positive experience.
  • Oversee cash management procedures, including operating POS terminals, processing transactions accurately, preparing daily bank deposits, and reconciling cash drawers with precision.
  • Drive sales performance by setting clear sales goals, monitoring team and individual progress, and implementing up-selling and cross-selling strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Maintain the store's visual and merchandising standards by ensuring displays are attractive, fully stocked, and aligned with brand guidelines and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist in the management of store inventory, including receiving and processing merchandise shipments, conducting regular cycle counts, and reporting discrepancies to maintain stock accuracy.
  • Implement and enforce all loss prevention and security policies and procedures to minimize shrinkage and protect company assets.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training for new and existing staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, POS operations, and customer service standards.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Gift Shop Manager, handling all escalated operational and customer service issues with confidence and sound judgment.
  • Generate and analyze daily and weekly sales reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales volume, average transaction value, and conversion rates.
  • Ensure the gift shop consistently adheres to all health, safety, and cleanliness standards, creating a safe and welcoming environment for both employees and guests.
  • Maintain a deep and comprehensive knowledge of all products offered, including their features, benefits, and stories, to effectively assist customers and train staff.
  • Communicate effectively with the Gift Shop Manager regarding store performance, staff feedback, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate floor coverage during all operating hours, approving time-off requests and managing break rotations.
  • Execute in-store marketing promotions, special events, and seasonal campaigns as directed by management to drive traffic and boost sales.

  • Provide valuable feedback and suggestions to the buying team or Retail Manager regarding product performance, customer requests, and emerging trends to help shape future assortments.
  • Collaborate with marketing or events departments to support cross-promotional activities and ensure the gift shop is well-represented in broader organizational initiatives.
  • Conduct informal competitive analysis by visiting nearby retailers to gather insights on pricing, product assortment, and merchandising strategies.
