Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Accurately interpret and work from complex blueprints, fabrication drawings, CAD files, and production work orders to determine project specifications.
Operate and maintain automated CNC glass cutting tables, ensuring precise cuts and optimal material yield with minimal waste.
Skillfully set up and operate various glass fabrication machinery, including edgers, polishers, beveling machines, and waterjets to shape and finish glass to required dimensions and styles.
Manage the glass tempering process by loading, operating, and monitoring tempering furnaces to strengthen glass according to safety and quality standards.
Handle and move large, heavy sheets of glass safely and efficiently using overhead cranes, suction cup lifters, and other material handling equipment.
Conduct meticulous in-process and final quality inspections to identify and report any defects such as scratches, chips, bubbles, or dimension inaccuracies.
Perform precise measurements using tape measures, calipers, and other gauging instruments to verify that finished products conform to specifications.
Execute drilling, notching, and cutout operations on glass using specialized drills and machinery for hardware and fixture accommodations.
Clean and prepare glass surfaces for fabrication, lamination, or shipping, ensuring they are free of debris, oils, and smudges.
Assemble Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) by properly setting spacers, applying sealants, and ensuring units are hermetically sealed.
Operate glass washing machines to ensure pristine clarity and an ideal surface for subsequent fabrication processes or final delivery.
Carefully pack and crate finished glass products for secure transport, applying protective materials to prevent damage during shipping and handling.
Maintain a thorough and accurate log of production activities, material usage, and completed work orders for inventory and tracking purposes.
Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves.

Secondary Functions

Perform routine preventative maintenance on fabrication machinery and equipment to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime.
Collaborate with supervisors and engineering teams to troubleshoot production issues and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Assist in maintaining inventory of raw glass, consumables, and other production materials by participating in regular cycle counts.
