Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Precisely measure job sites, openings, and existing framework to determine the exact dimensions required for glass and framing materials.
Expertly cut, grind, shape, and polish various types of glass, including float, laminated, tempered, and insulated glass units, to specified sizes.
Fabricate and install commercial aluminum storefronts, curtain wall systems, and architectural glass entrances according to blueprints and manufacturer specifications.
Skillfully fit and install custom frameless, semi-frameless, and framed heavy glass shower doors and enclosures in high-end residential properties.
Replace broken or outdated glass in residential windows, commercial doors, and storefronts, ensuring a perfect, secure, and weather-tight fit.
Safely handle, transport, and maneuver large, heavy panes of glass and mirrors using suction cups, dollies, cranes, and other specialized lifting equipment.
Apply high-grade sealants, gaskets, and caulking compounds to joints and seams to ensure robust, watertight, and airtight seals against the elements.
Read and accurately interpret blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to ensure all installations meet design and engineering requirements.
Assemble and install metal frames, sashes, and moldings for glass installation using various hand and power tools with a high degree of precision.
Mount and secure large-scale mirrors to various wall surfaces, ensuring they are perfectly level, properly supported, and free of distortion.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex on-site installation challenges, making necessary adjustments to frames or glass to achieve a flawless fit and finish.
Operate a wide variety of power tools, including circular saws, drills, grinders, and routers, as well as hand tools specific to the glazing trade.
Perform detailed pre-installation inspections of job sites to identify potential obstacles, verify measurements, and confirm site readiness.
Ensure all installations strictly comply with local building codes, safety regulations (OSHA), and industry best practices for structural integrity.
Install a variety of specialty glass products, such as custom glass railings, back-splashes, glass partitions, tabletops, and decorative panels.

Secondary Functions

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on all job sites, in the company vehicle, and within the workshop.
Communicate professionally and proactively with clients, general contractors, and project managers to provide status updates, explain procedures, and address concerns.
Accurately and promptly complete all required job-related documentation, including work orders, service tickets, change orders, and daily time logs.
Manage and maintain an inventory of materials, tools, and equipment in the work vehicle, reporting any needs for replenishment or repair.
Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety standards and protocols, including the consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to apprentice glaziers and less experienced team members to foster skill development within the team.
Perform thorough post-installation clean-up of the work area, removing all debris, materials, and tools, leaving the site in a pristine condition.
