Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Spearhead and manage the end-to-end localization lifecycle for all digital products, marketing campaigns, and corporate communications from initiation to delivery.
- Act as a key stakeholder and advocate for internationalization (i18n) best practices, collaborating closely with product management and engineering teams to ensure our core platform is globally ready.
- Develop and nurture strategic relationships with external Language Service Providers (LSPs) and freelance linguists, overseeing vendor selection, onboarding, rate negotiation, and performance management.
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards for all localized content, implementing linguistic quality assurance (LQA) programs and feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.
- Own and manage the localization budget, providing accurate forecasting, tracking expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Serve as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for all globalization inquiries, effectively communicating project status, risks, and dependencies to diverse internal stakeholders.
- Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to localization quality, turnaround time, and cost, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Administer and optimize our Translation Management System (TMS) and associated localization tools, ensuring efficient workflows and seamless integration with content repositories like CMS and codebases.
- Develop, maintain, and evangelize the use of localization assets, including style guides, glossaries, and translation memories (TMs), to ensure brand consistency across all target languages.
- Collaborate with market research and international strategy teams to assess the linguistic and cultural readiness for new market entry, providing critical input on go-to-market plans.
- Proactively identify and resolve localization and internationalization bugs and issues, working with engineering teams to triage, prioritize, and validate fixes.
- Drive the strategy for localization tooling and technology, evaluating and implementing new solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and scale.
- Provide education and training to internal teams on globalization processes, best practices, and the strategic importance of localization.
- Conduct cultural and linguistic research to ensure that product features, UI/UX designs, and marketing messages are appropriate and effective in target markets.
- Manage complex localization projects with multiple dependencies, tight timelines, and diverse stakeholders, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Secondary Functions
- Perform linguistic quality assurance (LQA) checks and review translated content for accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness when necessary.
