Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Meticulously perform visual and tactile inspections on various types of gloves at different stages of production and packaging to ensure they meet quality criteria.
- Accurately identify and classify product defects, such as pinholes, tears, stains, embedded debris, discoloration, incorrect sizing, and material inconsistencies, according to established standards.
- Follow detailed inspection procedures, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and reliable evaluation of every glove and batch.
- Utilize basic measurement tools, like rulers and calipers, to verify glove dimensions, thickness, and cuff length against product specification sheets.
- Conduct standardized quality tests, including water leak tests ("watertight test") and air inflation tests, to check for micro-tears and ensure barrier integrity.
- Carefully and accurately document all inspection results, defect types, and quantities with precision in digital logs, spreadsheets, or a dedicated Quality Management System (QMS).
- Promptly segregate non-conforming or defective products into designated quarantine or rejection areas to prevent them from entering the main supply chain.
- Immediately communicate any significant quality issues, emerging trends in defects, or out-of-specification findings to the Senior Inspector, QC Lead, or Production Supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation, tagging, and labeling of product samples for more advanced laboratory testing or for retention as quality control archive samples.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, ensuring all inspection tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored, cleaned, and accounted for.
- Read and interpret technical documents, product specification sheets, and quality control plans to fully understand the acceptance and rejection criteria for each product line.
- Verify that all packaging and labeling information, including lot numbers, manufacturing dates, expiration dates, and sizing details, are correct, legible, and properly placed.
- Participate in the sorting and rework process for batches of gloves that may be salvageable, following specific guidelines for correction and re-inspection.
- Monitor the production line process on a sampling basis to provide real-time feedback on quality to the machine operators and production team.
- Assist senior inspectors in conducting root cause analysis for recurring quality problems by providing detailed data and observations from the inspection line.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and hygiene standards, especially when handling medical-grade or food-safe products.
- Manage the disposition of rejected materials, ensuring they are properly recorded and disposed of or recycled according to company and environmental policies.
- Perform routine operational checks on inspection equipment (e.g., light tables, testing apparatus) to ensure it is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions for repair.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting potential enhancements to the inspection process, testing methods, or documentation for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate effectively with production staff, packers, and warehouse personnel to ensure a smooth workflow and clear communication regarding product quality status.
- Train on and maintain a working knowledge of various industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, EN) relevant to glove manufacturing and quality assurance.
- Generate basic daily or weekly summary reports on inspection activities, including pass/fail rates, total units inspected, and common defect types for review by management.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in maintaining inventory records for quality control supplies, such as testing solutions, cleaning materials, and inspection tools.
- Participate in routine workplace safety audits and contribute to maintaining a secure and hazard-free environment within the QC area.
- Provide support during internal and external quality audits by helping to retrieve documentation, records, and product samples as requested by auditors.
- Help with general housekeeping tasks within the quality control department to ensure overall cleanliness and orderliness beyond the immediate workstation.
