Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Greet all members and guests with a warm, professional welcome upon their arrival, offering immediate assistance with their golf bags and equipment.
  • Manage the staging area for golf carts, ensuring a clean, fully-stocked, and readily available supply of carts for players at all times.
  • Provide detailed explanations to players on the proper operation of the golf cart, including GPS systems, safety features, and on-course rules.
  • Load and secure golf bags onto the designated carts, confirming player names and tee times to ensure accuracy and a smooth start to their round.
  • Perform thorough cleaning and detailing of the golf cart fleet after each use, including washing exteriors, wiping down interiors, removing trash, and restocking supplies like scorecards, pencils, and sand.
  • Execute a daily and nightly cart rotation and charging schedule to ensure the entire fleet remains in optimal condition and fully powered.
  • Conduct routine inspections of golf carts for any mechanical issues, damage, or low tire pressure, and report any findings to the maintenance team or Head Professional immediately.
  • Manage the driving range operations, including setting up and breaking down the practice area, and ensuring a constant, clean supply of range balls for players.
  • Retrieve, wash, and restock range balls using mechanical pickers and ball washing equipment throughout the day.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bag room, cart barn, and all surrounding outside service areas to reflect a high standard of quality.
  • Assist players upon completion of their round by cleaning their clubs and transporting their equipment back to their vehicles or into bag storage.
  • Anticipate player and guest needs by being observant and ready to provide assistance before being asked.
  • Communicate effectively with the Pro Shop, Starters, and Rangers to manage the flow of play and relay important information regarding group status or course conditions.
  • Store member and guest clubs in the designated bag storage area, ensuring proper tagging and organization for easy retrieval.

Secondary Functions

  • Provide support for golf tournaments and corporate outings, including special cart staging, signage placement, and contest marker setup.
  • Monitor on-course and practice area amenities, such as water coolers, towels, and waste receptacles, and replenish them as necessary.
  • Assist the Pro Shop staff with various tasks during periods of high traffic or when additional support is needed.
  • Enforce club policies and standards of etiquette in a polite and professional manner to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the club's services, events, and facilities to accurately answer guest inquiries.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay current on procedures and enhance service skills.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Golf Cart Operation: Ability to safely and efficiently operate various models of golf carts, including both gas and electric.
  • Basic Vehicle Maintenance: Competency in performing routine checks on fluid levels, tire pressure, and battery connections.
  • Driving Range Equipment Operation: Experience operating range pickers, ball washers, and ball dispensing machines.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years in a customer-facing role.

Preferred: 1+ years of experience working at a private golf club, high-end resort, or similar hospitality-focused environment is highly advantageous. A passion for the game of golf is a significant plus.
