Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Conduct comprehensive diagnostic tests on electric and gas-powered golf carts to accurately identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and battery-related issues.
Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance, including battery watering, terminal cleaning and sealing, brake adjustments, tire pressure checks, and lubrication of all moving parts.
Execute complex repairs on drivetrains, steering systems, transaxles, suspension components, and braking systems for various makes and models (e.g., Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha).
Diagnose and repair electrical system failures, including issues with controllers, solenoids, wiring harnesses, chargers, and onboard computer systems.
Service and rebuild small gasoline engines, including carburetor cleaning and adjustment, fuel system repairs, and ignition system diagnostics.
Manage the health and lifecycle of deep-cycle lead-acid and lithium-ion battery packs, performing load tests, specific gravity checks, and cell replacements.
Install and configure a variety of golf cart accessories, such as lights, enclosures, USB ports, sound systems, and custom seating.
Respond to on-course service calls to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to get vehicles back in operation quickly and efficiently.
Maintain a high level of aesthetic quality for the fleet, performing bodywork repairs, replacing damaged panels, and ensuring carts are clean and presentable.
Overhaul and rebuild major components, including engines, motors, and differentials, to extend the life of the vehicles.
Utilize manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and handheld programmers to troubleshoot faults and adjust vehicle performance parameters.
Perform precise wheel and tire services, including mounting, balancing, rotation, and alignment to ensure safe operation and even wear.
Keep detailed and accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and parts used for each vehicle in the fleet, often using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Monitor and manage inventory levels for spare parts, tires, batteries, and other essential supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent work stoppages.
Execute systematic seasonal fleet preparation, including winterization procedures and pre-season inspections and commissioning.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities strictly adhere to manufacturer specifications and established safety standards.
Conduct final quality control checks and test drives on all serviced vehicles to confirm that all issues have been resolved and the cart is safe for operation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians or apprentices within the maintenance team.
Stay current with emerging golf cart technologies, new models, and updated service procedures through continuous training and professional development.
Assist in evaluating and recommending new vehicle acquisitions and the retirement of aging fleet assets based on maintenance history and cost of ownership.

Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Deep proficiency in diagnosing and repairing both DC and AC electric motor systems and their associated controllers.
Strong knowledge of 12v, 36v, 48v, and 72v electrical systems, with the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
Proven expertise with 4-cycle gasoline-powered small engines, fuel delivery systems, carburetors, and emissions components.
Competency in using a wide range of diagnostic tools, including multimeters, battery hydrometers, load testers, and handheld ECU programmers.
Solid understanding of hydraulic and mechanical brake systems, including drum and disc brake service.
Experience with tire mounting, repair, and balancing equipment.
Light welding and fabrication skills for minor frame or component repairs are highly beneficial.
