Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Actively assist Lead Instructors during private lessons and group clinics by providing supplemental individual feedback, demonstrating complex techniques, and managing student flow to ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Independently conduct introductory clinics, junior golf camps, and beginner-focused programs under the guidance and curriculum set by the Director of Instruction.
  • Operate and interpret data from industry-leading launch monitor technologies such as TrackMan, Foresight GCQuad, and FlightScope to provide students with data-driven feedback on their swing and ball flight.
  • Utilize video analysis software (e.g., V1 Pro, OnForm) to record, analyze, and provide visual feedback on students' golf swings, creating a library of progress for each student.
  • Provide professional and insightful club fitting recommendations for a wide range of golfers by utilizing fitting systems and launch monitor data to match players with optimal equipment specifications.
  • Develop and communicate personalized practice plans and drills for students to work on between lessons, reinforcing concepts and accelerating their improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of playing ability and a comprehensive understanding of modern golf instruction methodologies, staying current with the latest research and industry trends.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment for all members and guests, demonstrating patience and adapting teaching styles to individual personalities and learning preferences.
  • Engage with members and guests on the practice facility, offering unsolicited, complimentary tips and promoting the club's instructional programs and services.
  • Manage and maintain all teaching aids, technology, and equipment within the instructional bays, ensuring everything is in perfect working order, charged, and properly stored.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Rules of Golf and proper course etiquette, and be able to clearly articulate these principles to students.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the management of the lesson booking system, including scheduling appointments, managing instructor calendars, and processing payments for instructional services.
  • Support the merchandising and sales efforts within the golf pro shop, particularly with regard to golf equipment, training aids, and apparel.
  • Contribute to the planning, organization, and execution of member tournaments, corporate outings, and special golf-related events.
  • Help create engaging content for the club's social media channels and newsletters, such as instructional tips, student success stories, and program announcements, to drive engagement and sales.
  • Perform basic club repair services, including re-gripping and simple shaft adjustments, providing a valuable and convenient service for members and guests.
  • Diligently maintain the appearance and organization of the practice areas, including the driving range, putting greens, and short game areas, ensuring a premier experience.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis related to lesson revenue, student retention, and program participation.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap by providing feedback on the effectiveness of instructional technologies and software.
  • Collaborate with other club departments, such as food & beverage and grounds maintenance, to ensure seamless execution of golf events and programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions to contribute to the overall improvement of the golf operations team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Golf Proficiency: Possess a strong playing background with a deep, technical understanding of golf swing mechanics, ball flight laws, and short game techniques.
  • Launch Monitor Expertise: Proficient in the setup, operation, and data interpretation of key technologies like TrackMan, GCQuad, or FlightScope.
  • Video Swing Analysis: Skilled in using video analysis software to diagnose swing faults and communicate improvements visually.
  • Club Fitting Acumen: Knowledgeable in the principles of dynamic club fitting, including understanding shaft profiles, lie angles, and head design.
  • Club Repair Skills: Competency in performing common club repairs, specifically re-gripping and minor adjustments.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Systems: Experience with golf operations software for scheduling, billing, and retail transactions (e.g., ForeTees, Jonas, Clubessential).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Actively enrolled in or have the desire to enroll in the PGA or LPGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of experience in a golf-related environment, such as a private club, high-end resort, or golf academy.

  • A competitive golf background at the high school, collegiate, or amateur level.
  • Documented experience working with junior golfers in a camp or clinic setting.
