Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Diligently receive, unload, and process incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Perform thorough inspections of all incoming and outgoing goods for any damage, defects, or discrepancies, and report issues promptly to management.
- Accurately stock, shelve, and organize products in their designated warehouse locations, following best practices for space optimization and accessibility.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and (if certified) forklifts to move inventory safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.
- Execute precise order picking and packing duties, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled correctly, securely packaged, and prepared for timely shipment.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, including cycle counts and full physical inventories, to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by adhering to all company safety protocols, OSHA standards, and housekeeping procedures.
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners to accurately track inventory movements, update stock levels, and process transactions in real-time.
- Prepare goods for outbound shipment by assembling, palletizing, wrapping, and correctly labeling items according to carrier and customer specifications.
- Implement stock rotation procedures, such as First-In, First-Out (FIFO), to minimize spoilage and obsolescence of perishable or dated goods.
- Identify and report any inventory discrepancies, such as shortages, overages, or misplaced items, and assist in reconciliation efforts.
- Process customer returns, inspecting returned items for condition and restocking them appropriately in the inventory system and physical location.
- Manage and apply labels, price tags, and other identifiers to merchandise accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all warehouse equipment is in good working order by performing routine checks and reporting any maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to coordinate the flow of goods and optimize warehouse workflow.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate potential shortages or low-stock situations to the purchasing or inventory management teams.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members, demonstrating proper procedures and safety guidelines.
- Support ad-hoc data requests and generate simple inventory reports for management and other departments.
