Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute detailed daily watering and irrigation schedules for a wide variety of plant species, meticulously adjusting frequency and volume based on environmental readings, soil moisture levels, and specific plant life-cycle stages.
- Systematically scout for signs of insects, pests, and plant diseases across all greenhouse zones, accurately identifying issues and reporting findings to supervisors for timely intervention.

- Prepare and apply customized fertilizer and nutrient solutions according to precise feeding schedules, ensuring plants receive optimal nutrition for robust growth and development.
- Perform essential horticultural tasks such as seeding, transplanting, and spacing of plants, handling delicate root systems and foliage with care to minimize stress and ensure high survival rates.
- Execute plant propagation activities, including taking cuttings, grafting, and dividing, to increase plant stock according to production or research plans.
- Conduct regular pruning, pinching, and de-leafing of plants to promote healthy growth, improve air circulation, manage plant size and shape, and increase flower or fruit production.
- Monitor and operate environmental control systems, including vents, fans, shade cloths, and heating systems, to maintain prescribed temperature, humidity, and light levels.
- Meticulously clean and sanitize greenhouse benches, floors, tools, and equipment to prevent the spread of pathogens and maintain a sterile growing environment.
- Assist in the setup and takedown of experiments or production cycles, carefully following layouts and protocols provided by research or management staff.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of daily activities, including watering schedules, fertilizer applications, pest observations, and plant growth metrics, using logbooks or digital software.
- Harvest crops or collect plant materials according to quality standards and timelines, handling the finished product with care to preserve quality for sale or research.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of greenhouse supplies, such as soil, pots, fertilizers, and tags, communicating needs to the supervisor to prevent shortages.
- Operate and perform basic preventative maintenance on small-scale greenhouse machinery and equipment, including irrigation systems, carts, and application tools.
