Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive visual and dimensional inspections of grill grates, burners, and structural components to ensure they meet manufacturing specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform rigorous performance testing, including heat distribution analysis using thermal imaging, flare-up frequency testing, and temperature control accuracy verification across all settings.
  • Execute gas leak detection tests on all fittings, hoses, and regulators for propane and natural gas models, ensuring 100% compliance with safety protocols.
  • Evaluate the integrity of ignition systems, both electronic and piezo, through repeated cycle testing to confirm reliability and safety under various environmental conditions.
  • Meticulously document all inspection results, test data, and non-conformities in the Quality Management System (QMS) with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
  • Analyze and interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical schematics, and bills of materials to verify that assembled grills conform to design specifications.
  • Issue and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) for any identified defects, collaborating with production or engineering teams to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Assess the quality and durability of materials, including stainless steel grades, cast iron, and coatings, for resistance to corrosion, heat warping, and wear.
  • Perform final "out-of-box" inspections to simulate the customer experience, checking for packaging integrity, completeness of parts, and clarity of assembly instructions.
  • Calibrate and maintain specialized diagnostic equipment, including thermal imagers, gas flow meters, and surface thermometers, to ensure accurate performance assessments.
  • Verify that all safety labels, warnings, and instructional markings are present, legible, and correctly placed according to UL, CSA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Conduct audits of assembly lines and production processes to ensure that established quality control checkpoints are being followed consistently by the production team.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the research and development team by providing detailed feedback and performance data on prototype models and new design features.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection procedures, testing protocols, and quality standards to enhance product reliability and safety.
  • Assist in training new inspectors and production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and the proper use of testing equipment.
  • Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions to proactively identify potential risks in new grill designs or manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with the customer service department to analyze field returns and warranty claims, providing technical insights to help identify systemic quality issues.
  • Maintain an organized and safe working environment in the inspection lab, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
