Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform comprehensive turf management, including precision mowing, edging, and trimming of lawns, athletic fields, and common areas to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Execute detailed landscaping duties, which include planting new flowers, shrubs, and trees, as well as weeding, mulching, and cultivating garden beds to enhance visual appeal.
- Conduct regular pruning and trimming of trees, hedges, and shrubs to ensure their health, shape, and to prevent obstruction of walkways and sightlines.
- Operate a wide variety of powered landscaping equipment such as commercial-grade mowers (riding and push), string trimmers, edgers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Implement integrated pest management strategies, including the proper and safe application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to control weeds, insects, and plant diseases.
- Maintain and monitor irrigation systems, performing routine inspections, adjustments, and minor repairs to sprinkler heads, lines, and controllers to ensure optimal water distribution.
- Proactively patrol grounds to identify and remove litter, trash, and natural debris from lawns, walkways, parking lots, and public areas to maintain a clean environment.
- Perform seasonal cleanup tasks, including the collection and removal of fallen leaves in the autumn and comprehensive spring-cleaning of grounds to prepare for new growth.
- Execute snow and ice removal operations during winter months, utilizing shovels, snow blowers, plows, and applying salt or de-icing agents to ensure safe passage on sidewalks, steps, and parking lots.
- Prepare soil for new plantings through tilling, amending, and grading, and perform turf aeration and dethatching to promote healthy root growth.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of hardscape surfaces, including walkways, patios, retaining walls, and parking areas, by pressure washing, sweeping, and performing minor repairs.
- Inspect the property for potential safety hazards, such as broken branches, uneven pavement, or drainage issues, and report them to a supervisor for prompt resolution.
- Assist in the installation of new landscape features, which may include laying sod, building small retaining walls, or setting up landscape lighting.
- Provide grounds support for special events, including site preparation, setup of outdoor furniture or tents, and post-event cleanup.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of daily activities, including tasks completed, materials used, and any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
Secondary Functions
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all groundskeeping equipment, including cleaning, changing oil, sharpening blades, and checking fluid levels to ensure longevity and safe operation.
- Assist other maintenance or facilities departments with general labor tasks, moving furniture, or event setup as directed by a supervisor.
- Operate light-duty vehicles such as utility carts and pickup trucks for transporting tools, materials, and debris across the property.

Required Skills & Competencies
