  • Drive the development and implementation of engineering best practices, standards, and processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Champion rigorous design reviews, code reviews, and testing protocols to ensure the robustness, safety, and reliability of all engineering deliverables.
  • Manage the allocation and workload of engineering personnel within the group, ensuring optimal resource utilization and balancing project demands with individual development goals.
  • Serve as a key interface between your engineering group and other departments, including Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Operations, to ensure seamless cross-functional alignment.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and new methodologies, and champion their adoption where they can provide a competitive advantage.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and create development plans to support the career progression of team members.
  • Lead the technical aspects of proposal development and scoping for new projects, providing accurate estimates for effort, cost, and timelines.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
  • Facilitate technical workshops and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and solve challenging design problems.
  • Author and present detailed technical reports and presentations to senior leadership, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Partner with talent acquisition to define role requirements, interview candidates, and build a high-performing, diverse engineering team.
  • Manage the group's budget for tools, software, and external resources, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, technologies, and software for the team to maximize productivity and effectiveness.
  • Drive a mindset of continuous improvement by analyzing team performance metrics and implementing data-driven process enhancements.
  • Translate high-level business requirements and product vision into detailed technical specifications and actionable engineering tasks.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader technology strategy and long-term roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs and market feedback into engineering requirements.
