Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Actively assist the Lead Instructor during class by demonstrating exercises, movements, and proper form modifications for varying fitness levels.
- Provide personalized, one-on-one attention and encouragement to participants who may need additional guidance or support.
- Foster a high-energy, positive, and inclusive class environment, motivating participants through verbal cues and enthusiastic engagement.
- Meticulously prepare the instructional space before each class, including setting up all necessary equipment, audiovisual systems, and lighting.
- Ensure a seamless and safe class experience by closely monitoring participants for correct form and technique, offering gentle, constructive corrections.
- Efficiently manage the complete breakdown and cleaning of the studio space and equipment after class, ensuring it is pristine for the next session.
- Greet members warmly, manage the class check-in process, and handle waitlist inquiries to ensure a smooth and welcoming start for everyone.
- Serve as a key point of contact for members, confidently answering questions about class formats, schedules, memberships, and studio amenities.
- Proactively identify and address potential safety hazards within the studio, strictly adhering to all facility safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Build strong, authentic relationships with members to enhance their sense of community, improve retention, and encourage consistent attendance.
- Be prepared to lead portions of the class warm-up or cool-down, or act as a temporary substitute in case of an emergency.
- Manage in-class music and sound levels to match the energy and flow of the instruction, creating an immersive workout experience.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the development and brainstorming of new class choreography, playlists, and instructional content alongside the lead instructor.
- Actively solicit and document member feedback regarding class experience, instructor performance, and studio amenities to drive continuous improvement.
- Support marketing and promotional efforts by engaging with the community on social media and encouraging members to participate in studio events.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and document any notable incidents, member feedback, or equipment issues for facility management.
- Ensure all studio supplies, such as cleaning wipes, towels, and water cooler stations, are consistently stocked and readily available for members.
- Participate in regular team meetings, staff training sessions, and professional development workshops to stay current with fitness trends and best practices.
- Aid in the onboarding and training of new Assistant Instructors, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative team spirit.
- Perform regular maintenance checks on fitness equipment, reporting any signs of wear, tear, or malfunction to the appropriate manager.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification: Must be current or obtained shortly after hiring.
- Knowledge of Basic Anatomy & Kinesiology: Understanding of fundamental human movement, muscle groups, and exercise principles.
- Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with a range of fitness equipment (e.g., weights, resistance bands, bikes, treadmills).
- Group Fitness Format Experience: Prior participation or knowledge of specific class styles such as Yoga, HIIT, Cycling, or Pilates.
- Studio Software Familiarity: Experience with booking and check-in systems like Mindbody or similar platforms is a plus.
- Audiovisual Operation: Basic ability to operate sound systems, microphones, and other AV equipment.

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years in a related environment.
