The Group Supervisor Assistant is a foundational role within our team, dedicated to supporting the Group Supervisor in the daily management and execution of classroom or program activities. This position is hands-on, directly contributing to a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children. Working in close collaboration with the lead supervisor, the assistant helps implement curriculum, ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations, and builds positive relationships with children, families, and staff. Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Directly assist the Group Supervisor in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate daily curriculum that meets the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
  • Actively supervise children at all times, including during classroom activities, meal times, nap periods, and outdoor play, to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere by interacting with children warmly, respectfully, and at their eye level, encouraging their involvement in activities.
  • Implement positive behavior guidance strategies and techniques to help children develop self-regulation, problem-solving skills, and prosocial behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment, regularly sanitizing toys, surfaces, and equipment инфекции to meet health and safety standards.
  • Establish and maintain open, friendly, and cooperative communication with each child's family, sharing daily updates and observations about their child's progress and experiences.

  • Prepare and arrange necessary materials and supplies for daily lessons and activities, ensuring they are accessible and ready for use.

  • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of classroom supplies, materials, and equipment, and report replenishment needs to the Group Supervisor.
  • Contribute to the creation and distribution of parent newsletters, classroom updates, and other forms of communication.
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and professional development workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support the integration of new children and families into the program, helping them feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Aid in the completion of required paperwork and administrative tasks as delegated by the Group Supervisor or Center Director.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Child Development Knowledge: Solid understanding of the developmental stages and milestones of young children (infant, toddler, and preschool).
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Current certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR; knowledge of universal precautions and emergency procedures.
  • Record-Keeping: Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental checklists.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Experience assisting with or implementing a play-based, child-centered curriculum (e.g., Creative Curriculum, HighScope).
    -Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with state and local childcare licensing regulations (e.g., DHS, DPW, NAEYC standards).

  • Patience and Empathy: Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and understanding, especially when dealing with challenging behaviors or sensitive situations.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

A High School Diploma or GED, coupled with a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or at least 15 college credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a related human services field.

Preferred Education:

An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a closely related field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
