Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Actively assist Head Coaches in the execution of group fitness classes, including the setup and breakdown of equipment, demonstrating exercises, and providing energy.
- Proactively monitor the gym floor to ensure member safety, offering immediate form corrections, spotting assistance, and exercise modifications as needed.
- Provide comprehensive orientations for new members, demonstrating the proper and safe usage of all cardio machines, strength training equipment, and functional fitness tools.
- Engage genuinely with members to build strong relationships, provide continuous motivation, and foster a welcoming and inclusive community atmosphere.
- Lead dynamic warm-up and cool-down segments for classes and individual clients under the supervision of a senior trainer to prevent injury and enhance recovery.
- Maintain an impeccably clean, organized, and safe workout environment by consistently re-racking weights, sanitizing equipment, and clearing floor space.
- Serve as the first point of contact for member inquiries on the gym floor, providing knowledgeable answers regarding fitness, facility services, and class schedules.
- Conduct initial fitness consultations and basic movement assessments to help new members identify their starting points and connect them with appropriate training programs.
- Enforce all gym policies and safety protocols in a firm but friendly manner to ensure a secure and respectful experience for everyone.
- Uphold a high-energy and positive presence on the floor, acting as a brand ambassador and role model for a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Personalize member experiences by remembering names, checking in on their progress, and celebrating their fitness milestones and achievements.
- Educate members on the value and benefits of personal training, small group training, and other premium services to support their long-term fitness journey.
- Stay current with fitness industry trends, new exercise techniques, and evidence-based training principles through continuous learning and professional development.
- Assist in managing class flow and capacity, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all participants, especially during peak hours.
Secondary Functions
- Support front desk operations during peak times, including member check-ins, answering phone calls, and processing new membership inquiries.
- Contribute to the gym's social media presence by assisting in the creation of engaging content, such as workout demonstration videos, member testimonials, and event promotions.
- Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of internal fitness challenges, workshops, and community-building events.
- Manage and maintain the cleanliness and inventory of locker rooms, towels, and other member amenities to ensure a premium facility experience.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on fitness equipment, promptly reporting any damage, malfunctions, or safety concerns to the management team.
- Maintain accurate member records, logging personal training sessions, attendance, and client notes in the gym’s member management software.
- Participate actively in all team meetings, training sessions, and staff development workshops to contribute to a cohesive and high-performing team.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency in demonstrating a wide variety of strength and conditioning exercises with correct form.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and basic exercise science principles.
- Experience operating and providing instruction on a diverse range of fitness equipment, including free weights, selectorized machines, and cardio units.
- Basic understanding of nutritional concepts and the ability to provide general, non-prescriptive dietary guidance.
- A nationally recognized Personal Training or Group Fitness certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NCSF) is highly preferred, or willingness to obtain one.

Typical Experience Range:
