Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate gymnastics lesson plans for a diverse range of skill levels, from preschool and recreational classes to pre-team programs.
- Instruct students on the proper form and fundamental techniques for all gymnastics apparatus, including floor exercise, uneven bars, balance beam, and vault.
- Provide expert spotting and hands-on assistance to ensure the physical safety of all gymnasts as they learn and perform new or challenging skills.
- Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive class environment that fosters self-confidence, sportsmanship, and a genuine passion for the sport of gymnastics.
- Conduct regular skill assessments and evaluations to track individual gymnast progress, providing constructive, encouraging feedback to both students and their parents.
- Effectively manage class dynamics and flow, ensuring all participants are supervised, engaged, and receiving personalized attention.
- Demonstrate skills and drills clearly and effectively, breaking down complex movements into understandable steps for young learners.
- Adapt teaching methods and curriculum to accommodate gymnasts with different learning styles, physical abilities, and developmental stages.
- Choreograph, teach, and refine routines for recreational showcases, in-house competitions, or other gym-related performances.
- Enforce all safety rules and gym policies consistently to maintain a secure and controlled training environment for everyone.
- Serve as a positive and inspiring role model for athletes, demonstrating professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a genuine enthusiasm for coaching.
- Lead dynamic and effective warm-ups and cool-downs, incorporating strength, conditioning, and flexibility exercises relevant to gymnastics.
- Prepare gymnasts for advancement to higher levels by ensuring they have mastered the required skills and demonstrate readiness.
- Respond calmly and effectively to any minor injuries, providing basic first aid and following established incident reporting procedures.
Secondary Functions
- Communicate proactively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress, class schedules, and upcoming gym events.
- Perform daily inspections of all gymnastics equipment and training areas, promptly reporting any safety hazards, damage, or maintenance needs to management.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of equipment for classes, open gym sessions, birthday parties, and special events.
- Maintain accurate administrative records, including class attendance, skill tracking charts, and student waiver forms.
- Participate actively in mandatory staff meetings, professional development workshops, and safety training sessions to stay current with best practices.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and program directors to ensure curriculum consistency and a cohesive, high-quality gymnastics program.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of gym-wide events, such as summer camps, clinics, parent's night out, and open houses.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gym facility, including training floors, equipment storage, and common areas.
- Promote gym programs and special events to current and prospective members to support student enrollment and retention efforts.

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range:
