Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient gynecological care, including annual wellness exams, Pap smears, breast exams, and the management of complex menstrual disorders.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of gynecological conditions, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and ovarian cysts.
- Perform a full spectrum of obstetric care, including prenatal consultations, managing labor and delivery, and providing postpartum support for both routine and high-risk pregnancies.
- Execute a variety of major and minor gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomies, myomectomies, oophorectomies, and laparoscopies, utilizing minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques whenever appropriate.
- Offer expert consultation and management on family planning, contraception, and infertility, guiding patients through various medical and surgical options.
- Maintain meticulous, accurate, and timely electronic health records (EHR), ensuring complete documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses, treatment plans, and surgical reports in compliance with all regulations.
- Interpret results from various diagnostic tests, such as transvaginal/abdominal ultrasounds, mammograms, and complex laboratory work, and communicate findings effectively and compassionately to patients.
- Provide evidence-based care for menopausal and perimenopausal women, including counseling on lifestyle modifications, managing symptoms, and prescribing hormone replacement therapy when indicated.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, evidence-based clinical guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standard of patient care and safety.
- Participate in a shared, equitable call schedule for obstetric and gynecologic emergencies, providing timely and effective care after hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, preventative care measures, and treatment options to empower them in their healthcare decisions and promote shared decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, sonographers, and sub-specialists (MFM, GYN/ONC), to provide integrated and seamless patient care.
- Manage acute gynecological and obstetrical emergencies, such as ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and postpartum hemorrhage, with clinical expertise and composure.
- Perform and supervise in-office procedures such as colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, LEEP procedures, and IUD/implant insertions and removals.
- Remain current with the latest advancements, clinical trials, and research in obstetrics and gynecology through dedicated continuous medical education (CME) activities.
- Screen for, diagnose, and provide initial management for gynecologic cancers, and coordinate timely and appropriate referrals to gynecologic oncologists.
- Provide sensitive, confidential, and age-appropriate care for adolescents regarding gynecological health, contraception, and STD prevention and treatment.
- Foster a respectful and trusting physician-patient relationship, ensuring patient comfort, privacy, and dignity are prioritized in every interaction.
- Participate actively in peer review processes, departmental meetings, and quality assurance committees to contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical services.
- Serve as a mentor, preceptor, and educator for medical students, residents, and other healthcare trainees rotating through the department, fostering the next generation of clinicians.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Advanced Gynecologic Surgery: Proficiency in open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted gynecologic surgical procedures (e.g., Hysterectomy, Myomectomy, Endometrial Ablation).
- Comprehensive Obstetric Management: Expertise in all aspects of obstetric care, including managing high-risk pregnancies, performing Cesarean sections, and handling complex deliveries.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound Interpretation: Skill in performing and interpreting both obstetric and gynecologic ultrasounds to inform clinical decision-making.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.
Preferred Education:
- Completion of a fellowship in a recognized OB/GYN sub-specialty (e.g., Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Urogynecology).
