Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct one-on-one, in-depth consultations with clients to assess their hair type, scalp condition, concerns, and styling goals through active listening and targeted questioning.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, such as scalp cameras and hair analysis technology, to provide a scientific basis for product and treatment recommendations.
  • Develop and prescribe personalized, long-term hair care routines, including shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and styling products, tailored to each client's unique needs.
  • Provide expert advice on the science of hair, explaining the benefits and functions of key ingredients and product formulations to educate and empower clients.
  • Demonstrate proper product application techniques and styling methods to ensure clients can achieve desired results at home.
  • Drive sales by effectively communicating product benefits, upselling complementary items, and cross-selling across different product categories to build a complete regimen.
  • Build and maintain a loyal client base through exceptional service, meticulous client record-keeping, and proactive follow-up communications.
  • Stay current with the latest hair care trends, styling techniques, new product launches, and innovations in the beauty industry to maintain expert status.
  • Meet and exceed individual sales goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other performance metrics set by management.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, embodying the brand's values and expertise while maintaining a professional and polished appearance.
  • Address and resolve client concerns or complaints with empathy and professionalism, ensuring a positive resolution and maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Manage and maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing consultation area and product section, adhering to all hygiene and merchandising standards.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle returns or exchanges according to company policy.
  • Actively participate in and support in-store events, workshops, product launches, and promotional activities to attract new clients and drive traffic.
  • Document detailed client information, consultation notes, and purchase history in the client relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Provide personalized advice on how diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors can impact hair and scalp health.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving stock, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring product displays are fully stocked and well-maintained.
  • Collaborate with the store team to create a positive, high-energy environment and contribute to overall team goals and success.
  • Participate actively in all required brand and product training sessions, workshops, and e-learning modules to continuously enhance knowledge.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Deep Product Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of hair care product lines, ingredient functions, and chemical compositions.
  • Hair & Scalp Analysis: Proficiency in identifying various hair types, textures, densities, and scalp conditions (e.g., oily, dry, sensitive).
  • Consultative Sales Techniques: Ability to guide clients to purchase decisions through needs-based selling rather than a hard-sell approach.
  • Cosmetology Expertise: Foundational knowledge of hair cutting, coloring, and styling principles (a license is often required or preferred).
  • POS & CRM Systems: Competency in operating Point of Sale systems for transactions and using CRM software to manage client data.

Experience Requirements
