Primary Functions
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, evangelizing it across the organization to ensure unwavering alignment and buy-in from all cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
- Author comprehensive and crystal-clear Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and market requirements, translating deep customer insights and business needs into actionable specifications for engineering, design, and firmware teams.
- Lead the entire product lifecycle from initial ideation and concept validation through development, launch, in-market management, and eventual end-of-life (EOL) planning.
- Conduct continuous and in-depth market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to identify untapped market opportunities, user pain points, and technology trends that can inform product innovation.
- Champion the voice of the customer relentlessly, integrating user feedback from surveys, beta programs, and analytics into every stage of the product development process to ensure a user-centric final product.
- Spearhead the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, acting as the key driver to guide products through critical engineering builds (EVT, DVT, PVT) and on to mass production.
- Collaborate intimately with Industrial Design and UX/UI teams to define a holistic user experience, from the physical form factor and materials to the out-of-box experience (OOBE) and software interactions.
- Build and defend robust business cases, complete with financial models, P&L analysis, pricing strategies, and sales forecasts to justify new product investments and ensure product-market fit.
- Make the tough priority calls and trade-off decisions, balancing competing constraints like features, product cost (COGS), development schedule, and technical risk, while clearly communicating the rationale behind those decisions.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to manage relationships with key component suppliers and contract manufacturers (CM/ODM/JDM), influencing their roadmaps and ensuring quality and scale.
- Drive the go-to-market (GTM) strategy in lockstep with Marketing, Sales, and PR teams to craft compelling product positioning, messaging, and a launch plan that maximizes market impact and adoption.
- Define and meticulously track key product metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) post-launch, using data-driven insights to guide product improvements, firmware updates, and next-generation planning.
- Act as the central point of communication for the product, facilitating cross-functional meetings and delivering clear, concise, and compelling status updates to the executive team.
- Serve as the primary product evangelist, passionately and articulately presenting the product's vision and value proposition to internal teams, external partners, customers, and industry press.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to navigate the complex landscape of global product certifications (e.g., FCC, CE, UL, RoHS), ensuring the product meets all regulatory requirements for target markets.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, working hand-in-hand with Technical Program Managers to ensure hardware build schedules and software sprints align with the strategic product roadmap.
- Analyze post-launch user data, engagement analytics, and customer support trends to identify opportunities for value-add firmware and software updates that enhance the core hardware experience.
- Travel internationally to manufacturing partner sites to oversee key development builds, foster partner relationships, and resolve critical production issues on the ground.
- Develop a deep technical understanding of the product's architecture, from the system-on-a-chip (SoC) to the sensor technologies, enabling credible and effective collaboration with engineering counterparts.
- Lead alpha and beta testing programs, defining test criteria, recruiting participants, and synthesizing feedback to identify and resolve critical issues before mass production.
