Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely and efficiently load various materials, including construction debris, soil, furniture, scrap metal, and equipment, onto trucks and trailers using proper lifting techniques and teamwork.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, such as shovels, wheelbarrows, pallet jacks, dollies, and pry bars, to facilitate the moving and loading process.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe, working order, reporting any defects or maintenance needs immediately to a supervisor.
  • Securely fasten and tarp all loads in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards to prevent shifting or loss of materials during transit.
  • Navigate to and from job sites, disposal facilities, and recycling centers using maps or GPS, ensuring timely arrivals and efficient route planning.
  • Unload materials at designated locations, carefully sorting items for disposal, recycling, or salvage as instructed by the project lead.
  • Maintain constant awareness of the surrounding environment on active job sites, including moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and other personnel, to prevent accidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all company, client, and OSHA safety protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Assist equipment operators by acting as a spotter, providing clear hand signals and verbal cues to guide movement in tight spaces and ensure safe operation.
  • Perform general site cleanup duties, including sweeping, debris removal, and organizing materials to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and dispatch to provide status updates, report issues, and coordinate tasks throughout the day.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with clients on-site, answering basic questions and representing the company with a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Execute demolition tasks as required, including the breakdown of structures, furniture, and fixtures to prepare them for hauling.
  • Sort and segregate different types of materials (e.g., metal, wood, concrete, recyclables) to maximize recycling efforts and ensure proper disposal procedures.
  • Manually dig, spread, and level materials such as dirt, gravel, and sand at construction or landscaping sites as part of the hauling and delivery process.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment or temporary structures necessary for completing a job.
  • Accurately complete daily paperwork, including work orders, vehicle inspection reports, and disposal receipts, ensuring all documentation is legible and submitted on time.
  • Manage the loading of materials to ensure proper weight distribution within the truck or trailer, preventing overloading and maintaining vehicle stability.
  • Endure and perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, often in adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Proactively identify potential hazards or inefficiencies on the job and communicate them to the crew lead to foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

Experience Requirements
