Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Serve as the architect and innovator of the bar’s beverage program, conceptualizing, developing, and costing a compelling menu of cocktails, wines, and beers that aligns with the brand’s identity and financial targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of bartenders and barbacks, providing continuous training on advanced mixology, product knowledge, efficient service mechanics, and elevated standards of hospitality.

  • Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with beverage suppliers, brand representatives, and vendors to negotiate favorable pricing, access exclusive products, and stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Function as the lead bartender during key service periods, setting the pace and standard for quality, presentation, and efficiency in drink preparation and service flow.
  • Create, implement, and lead comprehensive staff training modules covering everything from classic cocktail history and technique to upselling strategies and the nuances of the current menu.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and culinary leadership to develop promotional events, happy hour specials, and food and beverage pairings that drive revenue and enhance the guest experience.
  • Manage the weekly staff schedule for all bar personnel, ensuring optimal coverage for projected business volumes while adhering to labor budgets and legal requirements.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with the bar team to align on service goals, communicate menu updates or 86'd items, and foster a positive and collaborative team dynamic.
  • Take ownership of the maintenance and functionality of all bar equipment, from draft systems to ice machines, coordinating timely repairs and preventative maintenance to avoid service disruptions.
  • Analyze beverage sales data, product mix reports, and customer feedback to make informed, strategic decisions about menu optimization, purchasing, and program direction.
  • Act as the primary quality control officer for all beverages leaving the bar, ensuring every drink is perfectly balanced, correctly garnished, and served with precision.
  • Cultivate a deep knowledge of spirits, aperitifs, wine, and beer, and use that expertise to educate both the team and curious guests, elevating the overall beverage culture of the establishment.
  • Design and execute unique bar experiences, such as cocktail classes, tasting flights, or distiller-hosted events, to create new revenue streams and build a loyal customer base.
  • Monitor and manage beverage costs and labor percentages against the budget, reporting on variances and implementing corrective actions in partnership with senior management.

  • Ensure the physical bar and storage areas are meticulously organized and stocked according to pars, applying a "first-in, first-out" (FIFO) system to all perishable items.

Experience Requirements
