Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Direct, oversee, and mentor a team of supervisors, providing guidance on leadership, performance management, and daily operational challenges.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive staffing plans and work schedules to ensure optimal coverage and resource allocation across all shifts and functions.
  • Drive the performance management process, including setting clear objectives, conducting regular performance reviews, and creating development plans for direct reports.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for complex operational, personnel, and customer-related issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify trends, diagnose issues, and implement strategic process improvements.
  • Champion and enforce all safety, health, and environmental policies, leading incident investigations and promoting a "safety-first" culture throughout the department.
  • Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or safety.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for new supervisors and key team members in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment by actively listening to employee feedback, recognizing achievements, and addressing concerns transparently.
  • Plan and facilitate regular training sessions for staff on new procedures, technology, safety protocols, and professional development topics.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports on departmental performance, project status, and key initiatives to senior management.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement projects using methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Manage inventory levels, supply chain logistics, and resource procurement to prevent disruptions and ensure operational continuity.
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts among team members and supervisors, promoting a respectful and professional workplace.
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper use of all departmental equipment and technology, coordinating repairs and upgrades as needed.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring they are up-to-date, clearly communicated, and consistently followed.
  • Evaluate and adapt operational strategies in response to changing business needs, market conditions, or technological advancements.
  • Serve as the acting Department Manager in their absence, assuming responsibility for all operational and administrative duties.
