Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive public health strategies, programs, and policies that align with the organization's mission and address community health needs assessments.
  • Provide executive leadership and direct supervision to a multi-disciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment through mentorship, professional development, and performance management.
  • Manage the department's fiscal health by developing, administering, and monitoring a complex annual budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and financial sustainability.
  • Serve as the principal public spokesperson on health-related matters, effectively communicating with the media, elected officials, and the public to build trust and disseminate critical information.
  • Direct and oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of public health data to identify trends, assess risks, and inform evidence-based program planning and policy development.
  • Ensure all programs and services are in strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and professional standards of care.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to build coalitions and leverage resources.
  • Lead the organization's emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring a coordinated and effective reaction to public health crises, disease outbreaks, and other emergencies.
  • Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities and leading proposal development to managing grant implementation and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Champion health equity by designing and implementing initiatives that identify and address social determinants of health and reduce disparities among vulnerable populations.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives across all health programs, establishing performance metrics and utilizing feedback to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
  • Advise the Board of Directors, CEO, and other executive leaders on public health issues, policy implications, and strategic opportunities for organizational growth and impact.
  • Direct the planning and execution of health education and promotion campaigns to raise community awareness and encourage healthy behaviors.
  • Represent the organization at local, regional, and national conferences, meetings, and committees to advocate for public health priorities and share best practices.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH), Health Administration (MHA), Public Administration (MPA), or a related field.

  • Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH), a medical degree (MD/DO) with a public health focus, or a PhD in a related discipline.

Experience Requirements
