Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute flawless installations of a wide range of residential technology, including high-speed internet, digital television, VoIP phone services, and integrated smart home ecosystems.
- Perform comprehensive site surveys to determine the optimal placement of equipment and routing of wiring to ensure maximum signal strength and system performance.
- Professionally install, terminate, and test low-voltage wiring, including coaxial, Cat5/Cat6 Ethernet, and fiber optic cables, adhering to all industry standards and local building codes.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues related to connectivity, signal quality, and equipment malfunction using advanced diagnostic tools and software.
- Provide exceptional on-site customer service, acting as a trusted advisor by clearly explaining technical issues and solutions in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Educate customers on the full features and benefits of their newly installed services and devices, providing clear, step-by-step demonstrations to ensure they are comfortable and confident.
- Configure and secure customer Wi-Fi networks, ensuring optimal coverage, speed, and connectivity for all of their personal devices.
- Install, aim, and optimize satellite dishes or antennas to achieve the best possible signal reception and data throughput.
- Perform system upgrades and equipment swaps, ensuring a seamless transition for the customer with minimal service interruption.
- Safely operate and maintain a company-provided service vehicle, ensuring it is clean, organized, and fully stocked with the necessary tools, equipment, and parts for daily assignments.
- Utilize a handheld device or tablet to manage daily work orders, document service details, process payments, and update customer account information in real-time.
- Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols, including proper ladder usage, personal protective equipment (PPE), and electrical safety procedures.
- Identify and present opportunities for customers to enhance their experience through service upgrades or additional products, such as smart home devices or premium Wi-Fi solutions.
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all issued equipment and materials, reconciling stock levels and reporting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with dispatch and technical support teams to resolve challenging service calls and ensure efficient routing and scheduling.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality checks on existing installations to proactively identify and prevent future service issues.
- Mount and install equipment such as flat-panel televisions, security cameras, and smart hubs, ensuring a secure and aesthetically pleasing setup.
- Resolve buried service wire or drop issues, which may involve some light trenching or working in crawlspaces and attics.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, serving as a positive ambassador for the company brand.
- Stay current with the latest industry trends, products, and installation techniques through continuous training and self-directed learning.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and digital documentation for each job, including installation checklists, service notes, and customer sign-offs.
- Work effectively and safely in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors, which may include inclement weather.
Secondary Functions
- Support dispatch and fellow technicians by sharing on-the-ground insights and assisting with complex, multi-person jobs.
- Contribute to improving service protocols and training materials by providing feedback from field experiences.
- Collaborate with the sales team by communicating customer interest in new or upgraded services identified during service calls.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, crimpers, cable strippers, etc.).
- Experience with low-voltage wiring, including coaxial, Ethernet (Cat5e/6), and fiber optic cables.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Wi-Fi standards (802.11ac/ax), and home network configuration.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as signal level meters, multimeters, and network testing applications.
- Familiarity with smart home platforms and devices (e.g., Google Nest, Amazon Alexa, Ring, Z-Wave).
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and installation guides.
- Comfort working at heights on ladders and in confined spaces like attics and crawlspaces.
