Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Accurately interpret and execute installation plans based on complex blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications to ensure precise placement and system integrity.
Perform on-site verification of measurements and assess structural conditions to anticipate and resolve potential installation conflicts before they arise.
Safely transport, handle, and rig heavy equipment, including large stainless steel hoods, exhaust fans, and duct sections, using appropriate lifting equipment and techniques.
Expertly assemble and securely mount commercial kitchen hoods to walls and ceilings, ensuring they are level, stable, and correctly positioned over a cooking appliance line.
Fabricate, assemble, and install galvanized and stainless steel ductwork, ensuring all seams and joints are properly connected and sealed to create a leak-proof exhaust path.
Perform continuous, liquid-tight welding (typically TIG or MIG) on black iron or stainless steel ductwork as required by code for fire safety.
Install and mount rooftop or wall-mounted exhaust fans and makeup air units, including setting curbs, ensuring proper flashing, and making final connections.
Complete basic low-voltage electrical wiring for hood lights and fan control systems, and coordinate with licensed electricians for main power hookups.
Install components of pre-piped fire suppression systems within the hood and ductwork, and coordinate with certified fire-safety technicians for final charging and commissioning.
Thoroughly test the entire ventilation system upon completion to verify proper airflow, fan operation, and overall system performance meets design specifications.
Conduct a final walkthrough with clients, general contractors, or inspectors to demonstrate system functionality and ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Maintain a deep, working knowledge of and strictly adhere to all relevant safety protocols and building codes, including OSHA, NFPA 96, and local municipal requirements.
Manage and maintain all company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are in safe and proper working order.
