Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute the complete on-site installation of professional-grade basketball systems, including in-ground, wall-mounted, and portable units, ensuring strict adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
- Interpret detailed technical drawings, architectural blueprints, and installation schematics to accurately plan and execute complex assembly and mounting procedures.
- Conduct thorough site assessments prior to installation to evaluate ground conditions, structural integrity, and spatial requirements, providing expert recommendations to clients.
- Perform precision drilling, anchoring, and fastening into various surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, wood, and steel structures, utilizing appropriate hardware and techniques.
- Manage all aspects of in-ground hoop installation, including excavation, concrete mixing and pouring, and the precise setting of anchor bolt systems to ensure long-term stability.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform complex repairs on a wide range of athletic equipment, addressing issues with backboards, rims, height adjustment mechanisms, and structural supports.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and comprehensive safety inspections on existing basketball systems in schools, parks, and recreational facilities, documenting findings and recommending necessary actions.
- Safely operate and maintain a variety of power tools and heavy equipment, including hammer drills, impact wrenches, core drills, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Perform skilled welding and light fabrication (MIG/Stick) as needed for custom installations, structural reinforcements, or complex repairs in the field.
- Provide exceptional on-site customer service, clearly communicating project timelines, explaining technical procedures, and conducting final walkthroughs to ensure complete client satisfaction.
- Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies within the assigned service vehicle, ensuring readiness for all scheduled and emergency service calls.
- Prepare and submit detailed daily work orders, service reports, and safety inspection forms in a timely and accurate manner using mobile software.
- Train clients and facility staff on the proper operation, safety features, and routine maintenance of newly installed or repaired basketball systems.
- Uphold and adhere to all company and industry safety standards, including OSHA regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself, your team, and the public.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, sales staff, and other technicians to ensure seamless project execution from start to finish.
- Independently manage a dynamic daily schedule, efficiently navigating to various client locations and adapting to unforeseen on-site challenges and changing priorities.
- Dismantle and remove old or obsolete equipment safely and efficiently, preparing the site for new installations and managing the disposal of materials.
- Evaluate the integrity of rims, nets, and backboards (glass, acrylic, steel), performing replacements and upgrades to meet current performance and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair both manual and electric height adjustment winch systems, including motors, cables, and limit switches.
- Maintain the professional appearance and operational readiness of the company service vehicle, including routine checks and scheduling of maintenance.
- Act as a technical resource, providing feedback to engineering and product development teams regarding equipment performance, durability, and installation challenges observed in the field.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis related to service times and part failure rates.
- Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap by providing accurate field data.
