Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Act as the central point of command for all incoming takeout, delivery, and curbside pickup orders, managing the flow from initial placement to final handoff.
- Greet all incoming guests with a warm and professional demeanor, managing the seating chart, reservations, and waitlist with accuracy and efficiency.
- Utilize Point of Sale (POS) systems and third-party delivery platforms (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) to accurately input, process, and track orders.
- Communicate precise and realistic wait times for both in-house diners and takeout orders by constantly monitoring table turnover and kitchen capacity.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the kitchen, front-of-house staff, and delivery drivers, ensuring clear and constant communication regarding order status, modifications, and delays.
- Meticulously review and bag all outgoing orders, verifying accuracy against the customer's ticket and ensuring all requested modifications, condiments, and utensils are included.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked host and dispatch station to ensure operational readiness at all times.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues with orders, such as kitchen delays or driver availability, by communicating with guests and offering solutions.
- Manage the timing and release of orders to the kitchen (throttling) during peak volume periods to maintain food quality and prevent kitchen overload.
- Coordinate the handoff of completed orders to guests and delivery drivers in a timely and orderly fashion, minimizing wait times and congestion at the pickup area.
- Answer a high volume of phone calls, addressing guest inquiries, taking phone orders, and providing information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies.
- Handle guest payments for takeout orders, ensuring all transactions are processed correctly and securely.
- Uphold the restaurant's standards for food quality and packaging, ensuring every order leaving the building represents our brand excellently.
- Monitor and respond to guest feedback and order issues coming through third-party delivery applications in real-time.
- Maintain an expert-level knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and potential allergens, to assist guests with their ordering decisions.
- Assist in managing the flow of the dining room by strategically seating guests to balance server workloads and optimize table turnover.
- Build positive relationships with third-party delivery drivers to facilitate smooth and efficient pickups.
- Ensure that all order packaging is properly assembled and branded according to company standards for a professional presentation.
- Address and de-escalate any guest complaints or concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating to a manager when necessary.
- Confidently navigate and troubleshoot issues within multiple technology platforms simultaneously, including the POS and various delivery partner tablets.
- Support floor staff during lulls in dispatch activity by assisting with bussing tables, running food, or performing other front-of-house duties as needed.
