Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Greet and welcome all guests with a warm, professional demeanor, setting a positive tone for their financial interactions with the hotel.
  • Accurately process a variety of payment methods including cash, credit cards, debit cards, and direct billing for room charges, F&B, and other hotel amenities.
  • Manage the check-out process efficiently, reviewing guest folios for accuracy, clearly explaining charges, and settling all outstanding balances.
  • Maintain and balance a personal cash float, performing meticulous cash counts at the start and end of each shift to ensure complete accuracy and accountability.
  • Address and resolve guest billing inquiries and disputes with patience, professionalism, and according to established hotel policies, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Accurately post charges from various hotel outlets, such as restaurants, bars, room service, and the gift shop, to the correct guest accounts in a timely fashion.
  • Issue precise receipts, invoices, and process refunds or adjustments as required, maintaining thorough and organized documentation for all transactions.
  • Strictly adhere to all cash handling, credit card processing, and security procedures to protect hotel assets and prevent financial loss.
  • Operate the hotel's Property Management System (PMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems with a high degree of proficiency for all financial and guest-related tasks.
  • Perform end-of-shift or end-of-day financial reconciliation, meticulously balancing all transactions against system reports to identify and rectify any discrepancies.
  • Prepare daily cash drops and deposit reports for the accounting department, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.
  • Handle foreign currency exchange for international guests based on current hotel rates and procedures, ensuring accurate calculations and record-keeping.
  • Confidentially handle sensitive guest information, including personal and financial data, in compliance with privacy regulations and hotel standards.
  • Liaise effectively with other departments, including Front Desk, Concierge, and Food & Beverage, to ensure seamless communication and accurate guest billing.

Secondary Functions

  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience by upselling room upgrades or promoting hotel services, packages, and dining options.
  • Inform guests about the hotel’s loyalty program, clearly explaining the benefits and assisting with the enrollment process to foster guest retention.
  • Assist the front desk team with processing new reservations, modifications, or cancellations during peak periods, ensuring data accuracy in the PMS.
  • Manage the hotel’s petty cash fund, disbursing funds for approved small purchases and maintaining an accurate log of all expenditures.
  • Ensure the cashier station and immediate front office area remain clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies like receipt paper and forms.
  • Support the Night Audit team by ensuring all personal cashiering transactions for the day are closed and balanced correctly before the audit process begins.
  • Generate and compile various financial reports for management as requested, such as daily revenue summaries or shift closing reports.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Cash Handling Expertise: Proven ability to accurately manage and balance a cash drawer, handle large sums of money, and prepare bank deposits.
  • POS & PMS Proficiency: Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and Property Management Systems (e.g., Opera, Fidelio, Mews).
  • Basic Accounting Principles: Understanding of debits, credits, and the principles of financial reconciliation.
  • Numeracy Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude for quick and accurate calculations, including currency exchange.
  • Data Entry: Fast and accurate typing skills for posting charges and updating guest information.
  • Credit Card Processing: Knowledge of secure credit card handling procedures and PCI compliance standards.
  • MS Office Suite: Competency in using Microsoft Excel for reporting and Word for communication.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
