  • Conduct comprehensive and continuous market and technology landscaping to identify emerging trends, disruptive technologies, unmet customer needs, and competitive white spaces that represent significant commercial opportunities.
  • Develop and articulate compelling value propositions for new ideas, clearly defining the target customer persona, the core problem being solved, and the unique benefits of the proposed solution.
  • Design and execute lean validation experiments, including the creation of low-fidelity prototypes, mockups, landing pages, and proof-of-concepts, to rapidly test core assumptions and validate market desirability.
  • Perform in-depth qualitative and quantitative customer research, including user interviews, surveys, and focus groups, to gather deep insights and ensure a human-centered approach to development.
  • Construct detailed and defensible business cases for promising concepts, including market sizing, revenue projections, cost analysis, risk assessment, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Create compelling narratives and presentations to effectively pitch new ideas and business cases to senior leadership, investment committees, and other key stakeholders to secure funding and buy-in.
  • Manage the "front-end" innovation portfolio, tracking ideas from initial submission through the stages of evaluation, validation, and transition to a formal development team.
  • Collaborate with legal and R&D teams to conduct preliminary intellectual property (IP) analysis and ensure freedom to operate for promising new concepts.
  • Build and maintain a network of external partners, including startups, universities, and research institutions, to source external innovation and foster co-creation opportunities.
  • Define and analyze key metrics for the innovation funnel, providing regular reports on pipeline health, experiment velocity, and the potential value of concepts under evaluation.
  • Act as an internal champion for a culture of innovation, encouraging creative thinking and intelligent risk-taking across all departments of the organization.
  • Translate validated concepts into initial product requirement documents (PRDs) or project charters to ensure a smooth handover to product management and engineering teams.
  • Stay abreast of global macro-trends (societal, economic, political, environmental) and analyze their potential impact on our industry and future business opportunities.
  • Facilitate the process of "de-risking" new ventures by systematically identifying and testing the most critical assumptions related to desirability, feasibility, and viability.
  • Develop and maintain an internal repository of market insights, research findings, and innovation project outcomes to serve as an organizational knowledge base.
  • Assess the strategic alignment of new ideas with the company's long-term goals, ensuring that innovation efforts are focused on the most impactful areas.
  • Formulate go-to-market hypotheses and initial channel strategies for new concepts to inform the business case and long-term commercialization plan.
  • Partner with finance and strategy teams to create robust financial models that project the potential return on investment (ROI) for new innovation initiatives.
  • Champion and train others on innovation frameworks and tools, empowering colleagues to contribute effectively to the ideation and validation process.
  • Map complex ecosystems to understand relationships between customers, partners, competitors, and influencers to identify leverage points for new value creation.

Secondary Functions
