Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform meticulous manual testing and visual inspection of a high volume of digital image assets across various platforms, including web, mobile, and print applications.
- Evaluate overall image quality based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including color accuracy, brightness, contrast, sharpness, noise, and resolution.
- Verify that all images strictly adhere to established corporate brand guidelines, project-specific style guides, and creative direction from art directors.
- Diligently identify, document, and categorize visual defects, inconsistencies, and technical issues such as compression artifacts, moiré patterns, pixelation, and improper file formatting.
- Author clear, concise, and unambiguous bug reports within our tracking software (JIRA), including detailed steps to reproduce, screenshots, video captures, and expected versus actual results.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including photography, retouching, and graphic design, to provide actionable and constructive feedback for image corrections and improvements.
- Execute pre-defined test cases, test suites, and checklists to ensure comprehensive quality coverage for all image-related features and content.
- Conduct thorough regression testing on corrected images and related software builds to ensure that fixes are effective and have not introduced new defects.
- Meticulously assess and validate image metadata (e.g., EXIF, IPTC, XMP) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and industry standards.
- Test image rendering, loading performance, and responsive behavior across a matrix of different web browsers, mobile devices, and operating systems to ensure a consistent user experience.
- Review images for content appropriateness, legal compliance (e.g., model releases, property rights), and licensing accuracy, flagging any potential risks for review.
- Actively participate in the creation, maintenance, and refinement of test plans, test cases, and quality checklists for all image-centric projects.
- Manage and organize large batches of image assets within our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, ensuring proper file naming, tagging, and version control.
- Perform critical comparisons of source images against final retouched versions to confirm that all requested edits and enhancements have been accurately implemented.
- Analyze image composition, cropping, aspect ratio, and framing to ensure they align with aesthetic standards and the specific objectives of the project.
- Provide both qualitative and quantitative feedback on image batches to help improve the upstream creative and production processes over time.
- Clearly communicate test results, quality metrics, and project status updates to project managers, QA leads, and other key stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Stay current with industry trends, new imaging technologies, digital photography standards, and best practices in visual quality assurance.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the official image quality guidelines and technical specification documents for internal and external partners.
- Perform end-to-end testing of the entire image lifecycle, from initial ingestion and automated processing to final publication and display on consumer-facing sites.
- Check for color profile consistency (e.g., sRGB, Adobe RGB) and ensure images are correctly optimized for their intended use case (web vs. print).
- Validate the functionality of image-related UI components, such as zoom, carousels, galleries, and lightboxes, on all target platforms.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions that involve significant visual or image-based components.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the QA process by suggesting new tools and more efficient workflows.
- Provide training and support to junior testers or other team members on image quality standards and testing procedures.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- High proficiency with bug tracking and test management software (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Asana, Azure DevOps).
- Strong understanding of digital image fundamentals, including file formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, WEBP), resolution, and compression techniques.
- Experience with image editing and viewing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge for inspection and analysis purposes.
- Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Deep knowledge of color theory, color spaces (sRGB, CMYK, Adobe RGB), and the importance of color calibration.
- Ability to perform cross-browser and cross-device testing using developer tools, emulators, or real device farms (e.g., BrowserStack).
