Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  1. Prepare and file a comprehensive range of nonimmigrant visa petitions, including H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, O-1, TN, and E-3, from initiation to final adjudication.
  2. Manage the entire lifecycle of employment-based permanent residency cases, including PERM labor certifications, I-140 Immigrant Petitions, and I-485 Adjustment of Status applications.
  3. Conduct thorough initial consultations with clients to gather necessary information, explain complex immigration processes, and manage expectations.
  4. Draft, review, and assemble complex application packages, ensuring all forms are correctly completed and all required supporting documentation is included and organized per government specifications.
  5. Communicate directly and professionally with corporate clients, including HR managers and foreign national employees, to provide status updates and request documentation.
  6. Prepare and draft intricate support letters, affidavits, and other legal documents for attorney review, demonstrating a strong command of legal writing.
  7. Proactively monitor case statuses and deadlines using case management software and government online portals (e.g., USCIS Case Status Online).
  8. Research and analyze complex immigration laws, regulations, and case law to support case strategy and address unique client situations.
  9. Respond to and prepare drafts for Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs) by gathering supplemental evidence and drafting detailed legal arguments.
  10. Manage the PERM labor certification process, including drafting job descriptions, overseeing recruitment efforts, and preparing audit files.
  11. Prepare clients and attorneys for interviews at USCIS field offices or consular posts, including assembling interview packages.
  12. Maintain and update client files and the firm's case management system (e.g., INSZoom, LawLogix, Clio) with all relevant information, correspondence, and deadlines.
  13. Handle public access file (PAF) creation, maintenance, and compliance for H-1B and E-3 petitions to ensure regulatory adherence.
  14. Assist with family-based immigration matters, including I-130 petitions, K-1 fiancé(e) visas, and adjustment of status applications.
  15. Prepare and file applications for naturalization (N-400), certificates of citizenship, and other citizenship-related matters.
  16. Coordinate with clients to collect and organize extensive personal and professional documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  17. Manage a high-volume caseload while prioritizing tasks effectively to meet frequent and strict deadlines set by government agencies.
  18. Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing empathetic and clear communication throughout the duration of their case.
  19. Review and analyze petitioner and beneficiary eligibility for various immigration benefits based on their specific circumstances and qualifications.
  20. Assist attorneys with billing and invoicing by tracking billable hours and preparing detailed descriptions of work performed on client matters.
  21. Stay current with frequent changes in immigration law, policy, and procedures through continuous learning and professional development.
  22. Prepare and file nonimmigrant and immigrant visa applications at U.S. consular posts abroad, guiding clients through the consular processing steps.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain and organize physical and digital case files in accordance with firm policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior paralegals or legal assistants on immigration procedures and firm protocols.
  • Prepare regular status reports for corporate clients detailing the progress of their foreign national employee caseload.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal team processes, templates, and workflow efficiencies.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency with immigration case management software (e.g., INSZoom, LawLogix, Tracker, Clio).
  • Expertise in preparing and filing key USCIS forms (e.g., I-129, I-140, I-485, I-765, I-131, N-400).
  • In-depth knowledge of nonimmigrant visa categories (H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the PERM labor certification process from start to finish.
  • Experience with employment-based green card processes (EB-1, EB-2, EB-3).

Educational Background
