Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the development, implementation, and refinement of comprehensive Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) frameworks, including Theories of Change and Logic Models, to align data collection with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of impact data, from designing robust quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments (like surveys, interview guides, and focus group protocols) to overseeing data cleaning, storage, and ethical management.
  • Conduct sophisticated quantitative analysis using statistical software (such as R, Python, or Stata) to test hypotheses, identify significant trends, and determine the correlation between organizational activities and observed outcomes.
  • Perform rigorous qualitative analysis on unstructured data from field notes, case studies, and stakeholder interviews to uncover deep contextual insights and powerful narratives that bring quantitative data to life.
  • Design, build, and maintain dynamic data dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to provide leadership and program teams with accessible, real-time insights into key impact indicators.
  • Author and present compelling, data-driven impact reports, investment memos, and thought leadership pieces tailored for diverse audiences, including board members, investors, donors, and the public.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with investment, program, and product teams to embed impact criteria and data-informed decision-making into the entire project lifecycle, from initial design to final evaluation.
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on impact measurement, staying at the forefront of emerging global standards, methodologies, and best practices from bodies like GIIN, IRIS+, and the Impact Management Project.
  • Manage relationships with external evaluators, academic partners, and research consultants, defining scopes of work, monitoring methodological rigor, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, independent assessments.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership to guide strategic planning, optimize resource allocation, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough impact due diligence on potential investments, grants, or partnerships, assessing their potential for positive change and identifying key risks to achieving desired outcomes.
  • Design and deliver capacity-building workshops and training for internal staff and external partners on impact measurement principles, data collection tools, and ethical research practices.
  • Lead the data gathering and narrative development processes for third-party certifications and industry reporting standards, such as B Corp Certification or annual sustainability reports.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized evidence base of impact data, compelling stories, and validated results to support fundraising, communications, and marketing initiatives.
  • Engage directly and ethically with community stakeholders and beneficiaries to gather firsthand feedback, validate findings, and ensure that their voices are central to the organization's learning and strategy.

  • Conduct literature reviews and landscape analyses of existing research to benchmark the organization's impact against the broader sector.
  • Assist the communications team by providing verified data points, impact metrics, and compelling narratives for use in public-facing materials and annual reports.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Quantitative Analysis & Statistical Modeling: Deep proficiency in statistical methods and experience using software like R, Python (Pandas, SciPy), Stata, or SPSS for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Qualitative Data Analysis: Expertise in designing qualitative studies (interviews, focus groups) and analyzing unstructured data using methods like thematic analysis, often with software like NVivo or Dedoose.
  • Data Visualization & Business Intelligence: Mastery of tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create insightful, interactive dashboards and reports that communicate complex information effectively.

Educational Background

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5 years of professional experience in a role involving quantitative and qualitative analysis, research, or program evaluation.

Preferred: Direct experience working in an impact investing fund, a non-profit organization with a strong M&E function, a corporate sustainability/CSR department, or a specialized impact consulting firm. Familiarity with ESG data and reporting is a significant asset.
