Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Meticulously prepare interior surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, patching, and filling cracks, holes, and joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers.
Apply primers or sealers to new or repaired surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and a uniform finish.
Skillfully mix, match, and apply paints, stains, varnishes, enamels, and other finishes to a variety of surfaces including walls, ceilings, trim, and doors.
Utilize a range of tools including brushes, rollers, and various spray equipment (airless, HVLP) to achieve desired texture and coverage.
Protect all nearby surfaces, including floors, furniture, and fixtures, by carefully covering them with drop cloths, plastic sheeting, and masking tape.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to understand project scope, color schemes, and finish requirements.
Calculate the amount of materials and time required for each project, providing accurate estimates to clients or supervisors.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment in compliance with safety regulations to work on elevated surfaces.
Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company policies and OSHA safety standards, including proper ventilation and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform high-quality drywall repairs, including taping, mudding, and texturing, to create a seamless surface for painting.
Remove old finishes, such as paint or wallpaper, using scrapers, heat guns, steam machines, or chemical strippers.
Inspect and maintain all painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, and sprayers, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
Apply caulking compounds and sealants to fill gaps and cracks around windows, doors, baseboards, and other architectural features.
