Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute end-to-end installation of Ivy systems and associated hardware (sensors, controllers, cameras, lighting modules, thermostats, and gateways) on residential and commercial sites, following manufacturer specifications and engineering drawings to ensure reliable operation and long-term durability.
  • Conduct comprehensive on-site surveys and site readiness assessments, documenting power availability, mounting locations, cable routes, signal strength, environmental constraints, and any deviations from standard installation plans before starting work.
  • Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, site plans, and scope-of-work documents to plan installations, route low-voltage and power cabling, and identify any necessary modifications or additional materials required to meet project requirements.
  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage wiring and cabling (CAT5/6, coax, multi-conductor low-voltage) using proper tools and standards, ensuring clean terminations, correct pinouts, and cable management that meet company and code requirements.
  • Mount hardware, brackets, and enclosures, perform precise alignment and leveling for sensors and cameras, secure equipment to a variety of surfaces (wood, metal, masonry), and protect finished surfaces to minimize customer disruption and damage.
  • Configure networked devices and gateways: assign static and DHCP IPs, set Wi‑Fi parameters, enable relevant protocols (MQTT, HTTP, TCP/IP), and confirm cloud connectivity and remote access per company commissioning checklists.
  • Perform system commissioning and end-to-end functional verification, including sensor calibration, automation logic testing, schedule/program validation, event logging, and stress tests to ensure all components work together per acceptance criteria.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues on site such as signal interference, inadequate power, misbehaving devices, firmware mismatches, and network configuration conflicts; escalate complex issues with detailed diagnostics to engineering or support teams.
  • Execute proper power management: determine transformer or power supply requirements, install inline fusing or surge protection as required, and confirm correct voltage and polarity for all devices.
  • Maintain accurate, timely installation records, site notes, photographs, and as-built documentation in the company’s ticketing or CRM system to support billing, handover, and future service requests.
  • Engage customers professionally on site: explain system behavior, demonstrate operation, share best practices, provide written or digital quick-start guides, and obtain customer sign-off upon successful completion.
  • Adhere strictly to local building codes, electrical regulations, low-voltage installation standards, and industry best practices; obtain permits and coordinate necessary inspections when required by project scope.
  • Manage inventory and parts logistics for assigned routes or projects: validate material lists, order missing parts proactively, track returned goods and warranty items, and ensure vehicle stock is organized and replenished.
  • Use and maintain hand and power tools, multimeters, cable testers, signal analyzers, and commissioning tablets/handhelds; ensure company tools and equipment are kept in safe, operational condition.
  • Work safely at height using ladders, lifts, and fall protection equipment when required; follow OSHA or local workplace safety protocols and participate in regular safety training.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, building managers, and other trades on active job sites to sequence work efficiently, resolve on-site conflicts, and minimize rework or schedule delays.
  • Complete warranty and follow-up service visits to diagnose intermittent issues, replace defective hardware, apply firmware updates, and verify system stability after initial installation.
  • Participate in remote support escalations by performing advanced diagnostics, capturing logs, and providing clear reproduction steps for product engineering to expedite fixes and firmware patches.
  • Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to junior installers and apprentices, including demonstration of best practices for cable management, safe tool use, customer communication, and first-time-right installation techniques.
  • Validate post-installation performance with objective metrics (signal levels, latency, packet loss, power draw) and produce concise performance reports that support QA and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain flexibility to support emergency response or after-hours service calls for critical system failures, coordinating with dispatch and customer service teams for rapid resolution.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
