Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Assist Senior Designers in the conceptualization and development of new jewelry collections, from initial mood boards and sketches to final design approval.
  • Create detailed and precise 2D and 3D models of jewelry pieces using CAD software such as Rhino, MatrixGold, or ZBrush.
  • Generate production-ready technical specification sheets (tech packs) that include detailed measurements, material requirements, stone settings, and finishing instructions.
  • Develop high-quality photorealistic renderings of CAD models for internal reviews, marketing materials, and client presentations using software like KeyShot or V-Ray.
  • Participate actively in design review meetings, providing creative input and constructively receiving feedback to refine and improve designs.
  • Conduct in-depth research on current and emerging fashion, jewelry, and cultural trends to ensure collections are relevant, innovative, and commercially viable.
  • Translate hand sketches and abstract concepts into dimensionally accurate 3D digital files, ensuring a seamless transition from artistic vision to technical design.
  • Collaborate with the product development and production teams to ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and organize design presentations for internal stakeholders, clearly communicating the narrative, inspiration, and key features of new collections.
  • Manage and maintain the digital library of design assets, including CAD files, renderings, and technical drawings, ensuring proper version control and organization.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of various jewelry manufacturing techniques, including casting, stone setting, polishing, and plating, to inform the design process.
  • Assist in creating physical prototypes, whether through 3D printing or coordinating with model makers, to evaluate design ergonomics, scale, and appearance.
  • Ensure all designs align with the brand's aesthetic identity, quality standards, and target market profile.
  • Revise and update existing designs based on sales data, customer feedback, and production requirements.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the merchandising and marketing teams by providing accurate product details, design stories, and visual assets for new launches.
  • Assist in the sourcing and selection of gemstones, diamonds, and other materials, learning to evaluate quality, cut, and color.
  • Help maintain the physical sample library, including cataloging, tracking, and organizing prototypes and finished pieces for internal use.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis by researching competitor products, pricing strategies, and market positioning to identify opportunities.
  • Prepare and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for new designs, working with the production team to estimate costs.
  • Liaise with overseas and domestic vendors and manufacturing partners regarding technical queries, sample reviews, and production timelines.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • 3D CAD Proficiency: Strong foundational knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Rhinoceros (Rhino), MatrixGold, JewelCAD, or ZBrush.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Competency in Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation and Illustrator for creating vector graphics and technical drawings.
  • Rendering Software: Familiarity with rendering programs like KeyShot or V-Ray to create realistic product visuals.
  • Hand-Sketching & Illustration: Ability to clearly communicate design ideas through freehand drawing and technical illustration.
  • Technical Specifications: Understanding of how to create detailed tech packs for jewelry manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Materials: Basic knowledge of precious metals, gemstones, and jewelry construction techniques (e.g., casting, setting, finishing).
