Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Expertly operate and maintain a range of engraving equipment, including advanced laser engravers, computerized rotary machines, and traditional hand-engraving tools.
Interpret complex customer requests, work orders, sketches, and digital files to accurately personalize a variety of fine jewelry pieces, including rings, pendants, bracelets, and watches.
Perform intricate hand engraving using classic techniques such as bright-cut, script, block lettering, and custom scrollwork to achieve unique, high-end finishes that machine engraving cannot replicate.
Set up, calibrate, and meticulously align engraving machinery for each specific job, adjusting for material type, item shape, and design complexity to ensure flawless execution.
Create, refine, and manipulate digital design proofs using graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW) or specialized CAD/CAM programs for client review and approval before final engraving.
Skillfully engrave on a diverse array of precious and alternative metals, including gold (all karats), platinum, palladium, silver, titanium, and stainless steel, understanding the unique properties of each.
Conduct meticulous quality control inspections on all engraved items, checking for accuracy, depth, clarity, and overall aesthetic appeal to ensure they meet the brand's highest standards.

Collaborate with bench jewelers and stone setters to coordinate multi-step custom projects, ensuring the engraving is performed at the optimal stage of production.
Stay current with emerging engraving technologies, software updates, and industry trends to continuously refine skills and improve workshop capabilities.
Engrave text, patterns, and even photographic images with precision, ensuring legibility and artistic integrity on both micro and macro scales.
Perform final finishing and polishing of engraved areas to seamlessly blend the work with the surrounding surface of the jewelry piece.
Troubleshoot and resolve common engraving issues, such as material inconsistencies, machine errors, or design flaws, with minimal waste.
