Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Cultivate and deepen client relationships through personalized communication, proactive outreach, and meticulous follow-up to build a robust personal client book.
  • Achieve and consistently exceed individual and team sales goals by leveraging expert product knowledge, effective sales techniques, and a client-centric approach.
  • Provide an exceptional and memorable in-store experience, guiding clients through collections with passion, storytelling, and in-depth knowledge of craftsmanship and brand heritage.
  • Master and articulate the technical details of fine jewelry, including diamonds, colored gemstones, precious metals, and watch complications.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle with professionalism, from initial client greeting and needs assessment to negotiation, closing, and post-sale service.
  • Develop a strong client base by actively networking, capitalizing on store traffic, and seeking out referral opportunities.
  • Handle and manage custom design projects and special orders, serving as the liaison between the client, designers, and artisans to ensure perfect execution.
  • Conduct professional presentations and demonstrations of high-value merchandise, highlighting unique features, benefits, and the story behind each piece.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for clients' significant life events, such as engagements, anniversaries, and milestones, helping them select the perfect piece.
  • Resolve client concerns and issues with empathy and efficiency, ensuring a positive resolution that reinforces their relationship with the brand.
  • Uphold the brand's prestigious image and service standards in every interaction, ensuring a consistent luxury experience for all visitors.
  • Drive business by inviting clients to in-store events, collection previews, and exclusive showings, acting as a host and brand ambassador.
  • Proactively follow up with clients regarding their purchases, upcoming special occasions, and new arrivals that match their preferences.
  • Confidently close complex sales and build long-term loyalty that results in repeat business and client referrals.
  • Continuously stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and new developments in the gemological and horological worlds.

Secondary Functions

  • Meticulously adhere to all security protocols for handling high-value merchandise, including daily opening and closing procedures and vault management.
  • Assist in maintaining the pristine appearance and organization of the showroom, ensuring visual merchandising standards are impeccably met.
  • Participate in regular inventory management activities, including cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation to ensure absolute stock accuracy.
  • Accurately and efficiently process all transactions, returns, and exchanges using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Prepare and process merchandise for secure shipments, inter-store transfers, and the receiving of new inventory.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat), precious metals, and gemstone characteristics. GIA certification is a significant asset.
  • POS & CRM Proficiency: Experience operating Point of Sale (POS) systems for transactions and Client Relationship Management (CRM) software for clienteling.
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with stock control procedures, including counting, reconciling, and securing high-value assets.
  • Sales Techniques: Proven ability in consultative selling, upselling, cross-selling, and closing sales in a luxury environment.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of sales targets, KPIs, and the financial aspects of a retail business.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certification (e.g., Accredited Jewelry Professional, Graduate Gemologist).

Relevant Fields of Study:

  • Business Administration or Marketing
  • Fashion Merchandising or Art History

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5+ years of experience in a client-facing role, preferably within luxury retail, high-end hospitality, or fine art sales.

Preferred: A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a fine jewelry, luxury watch, or comparable high-value sales environment. Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining a personal client book is highly desirable.
