Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Interpret and execute assembly tasks based on detailed engineering blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and written work instructions.
- Accurately identify and gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials as listed on bills of materials (BOM) for specific production runs.
- Skillfully operate a wide array of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment (e.g., torque wrenches, drills, rivet guns, screwdrivers) to assemble components.
- Perform complex assembly operations such as fastening parts together with bolts, screws, rivets, or other fasteners, ensuring proper torque and fit.
- Apply adhesives, sealants, or other bonding agents to join components, following precise application procedures to ensure structural integrity.
- Conduct in-process visual and mechanical inspections on parts and assemblies to verify conformance to quality standards and specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to check dimensions and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
- Identify and report any product defects, non-conformities, or discrepancies in parts or assembly processes to a supervisor or quality assurance team.
- Perform minor adjustments, rework, or repairs on assemblies that do not meet initial quality checks to bring them into compliance.
- Maintain a meticulously clean, organized, and safe work area by adhering to 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Document production and quality control data accurately, completing all required logs, forms, and digital records for traceability and reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot assembly issues and contribute to problem-solving.
- Position and align components in jigs, fixtures, or other holding devices to ensure precise and repeatable assembly.
- Handle and move materials, components, and finished assemblies manually or with the assistance of material handling equipment like pallet jacks or carts.
- Monitor the functioning of assembly equipment and tools, performing routine preventive maintenance and reporting any malfunctions for repair.
- Participate actively in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives by suggesting process enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Manage and pack finished products according to specifications, ensuring they are protected and correctly labeled for shipping or storage.
- Cross-train on different assembly stations and products to enhance flexibility and support the overall production schedule.
- Meet established production quotas and deadlines without compromising the high standards of quality and safety required for the role.
