  • Analyze and interpret financial documents, corporate filings, legal proceedings, and scientific studies to distill key findings for journalistic teams.
  • Prepare detailed research memos, backgrounders, and briefing documents that synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights for reporters.
  • Verify the authenticity and provenance of user-generated content, including photos, videos, and social media posts, using digital forensics tools.
  • Perform deep-dive background research on individuals, corporations, and other entities, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their history and connections.
  • Collaborate closely with legal counsel to review research findings and mitigate potential risks associated with sensitive reporting projects.
  • Manage and organize vast amounts of research material, creating and maintaining internal databases and knowledge management systems for team-wide use.
  • Provide rapid-response research and fact-checking support for breaking news events, working efficiently under intense deadline pressure.
  • Assist in the pre-interview process by preparing thorough dossiers on interview subjects and suggesting potential lines of questioning.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments relevant to ongoing investigations and areas of coverage.
  • Scour academic journals, think tank reports, and niche publications to uncover unique data and expert perspectives that enrich reporting.
