Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately and efficiently place finished juice bottles into designated boxes, cases, or trays according to specific packaging guidelines and order requirements.
- Operate and monitor automated and semi-automated packaging equipment, including fillers, cappers, labelers, and case sealers, making minor adjustments as needed to ensure smooth operation.
- Visually inspect every bottle and container for defects such as improper seals, low fill levels, contamination, crooked labels, or physical damage before packing.
- Ensure all products are correctly labeled with accurate date codes, lot numbers, and product information in strict compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.
- Construct and prepare cardboard boxes and other packaging materials, ensuring a steady supply is available for the production line to prevent downtime.
- Carefully stack and arrange finished cases onto pallets in a stable and organized manner, following specific palletizing patterns required for shipping and warehouse storage.
- Utilize manual or electric pallet jacks to safely transport full pallets of finished goods from the production line to designated staging areas or the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation at all times, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company hygiene policies to prevent contamination.
- Follow all established safety protocols and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and non-slip shoes.
- Accurately complete production logs and packaging records, meticulously documenting quantities produced, batch numbers, and any downtime or quality issues encountered during the shift.
- Collaborate effectively with line leads, machine operators, and quality control personnel to report and resolve any product quality or equipment issues promptly.
- Perform routine quality checks on incoming packaging materials, such as boxes, caps, and labels, to ensure they meet quality specifications before being used in production.
- Assist in the changeover of packaging lines for different products, which may include cleaning equipment, clearing the line, and setting up new materials.
- Monitor the flow of products and containers along the conveyor belt, removing any jams or blockages safely and efficiently to maintain a continuous production flow.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles to prevent any risk of product contamination.
- Rotate through various tasks on the packaging line as directed by the supervisor to support team flexibility and help meet daily production targets.
- Manage and properly dispose of waste materials, such as excess cardboard and plastic wrap, in the appropriate receptacles to maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
- Verify that the correct juice product is being packed into the correctly labeled packaging to prevent mislabeling and ensure order accuracy.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts of packaging materials and finished goods as required by the warehouse or production management team.
- Communicate any supply shortages or equipment malfunctions to the shift supervisor or line lead in a timely manner to minimize production impact.
- Consistently lift and move boxes weighing up to 40-50 pounds throughout the shift, demonstrating physical stamina and proper, safe lifting techniques.
- Stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks with hands and wrists, and work effectively in a potentially cool, damp, and fast-paced environment.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the hands-on training of new Juice Packers on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Participate in daily team huddles or meetings to discuss production goals, safety topics, and any operational challenges from the previous shift.
- Support sanitation crews with basic cleaning and sanitizing of the production area and non-technical equipment during scheduled downtimes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting practical ways to improve efficiency, safety, or quality on the packaging line.
