Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely and efficiently operate a commercial box truck (typically non-CDL) to navigate to residential and commercial job sites following predetermined routes.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is safe, clean, and fully operational, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Greet clients upon arrival with a professional and friendly demeanor, representing the company brand positively and building immediate rapport.
  • Listen attentively to client needs and conduct a thorough walk-through of the property to accurately identify all items designated for removal.
  • Provide clear, transparent, and on-the-spot price estimates to clients based on the volume of items, type of material, and overall complexity of the removal job.
  • Communicate the service details and value proposition effectively to clients, confidently addressing any questions or concerns to secure job approval.
  • Carefully and strategically lift, carry, and load a wide variety of items, including furniture, appliances, electronics, yard waste, and construction debris, into the truck.
  • Work collaboratively with a team member to safely handle heavy, bulky, and awkward items, utilizing proper lifting techniques and equipment like dollies and straps.
  • Proactively protect client property during the removal process by using moving blankets, floor runners, and demonstrating high spatial awareness to prevent damage.
  • Methodically pack the truck to maximize space, ensure load stability during transport, and effectively separate items for recycling, donation, and disposal.
  • Process customer payments on-site using a mobile point-of-sale system, ensuring accuracy, providing receipts, and closing out the job order.
  • Transport collected materials to designated transfer stations, recycling facilities, and donation centers, adhering to all local and federal disposal regulations.
  • Unload materials at disposal and recycling sites, diligently sorting items into the appropriate bins and areas as required by each facility.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and box throughout the workday to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for the team.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for upselling additional services or generating future business through exceptional customer service.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform a final sweep and clean-up of the area after the removal is complete, leaving the client's space tidier than when you arrived.
  • Educate customers on the company's commitment to responsible disposal, including our recycling and donation efforts, to reinforce our environmental mission.
  • Complete all necessary digital and paper-based paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including work orders, disposal receipts, and daily activity logs.
  • Assist in local marketing efforts as directed, such as distributing door hangers in serviced neighborhoods or engaging with potential customers while on the job.
  • Maintain constant and clear communication with dispatch and management throughout the day, providing updates on job status, routing, and any on-site issues.
  • Actively participate in daily team huddles to review safety protocols, discuss performance goals for the day, and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Ensure all provided tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained, cared for, and used according to safety standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial box truck (12-16 ft, typically non-CDL) in various traffic, weather, and urban/suburban environments.
  • Proficiency with GPS and mobile navigation applications for efficient routing and time management.
  • Competence with mobile tablets and point-of-sale (POS) applications for job management and payment processing.
  • Knowledge of proper, ergonomically-sound lifting techniques to prevent personal injury.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for performing daily vehicle inspections and identifying potential maintenance issues.
