Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Operate a non-CDL commercial dump truck or box truck safely and efficiently, navigating diverse urban and suburban routes while strictly adhering to all traffic laws and company safety standards.
- Engage directly with customers upon arrival, professionally explaining the service process, assessing the scope of the junk removal job, and providing clear, transparent, and upfront pricing.
- Physically lift, carry, and load a wide variety of items, including heavy furniture, appliances, electronics, construction debris, and yard waste, into the truck.
- Work collaboratively with a partner or team to safely and effectively clear items from homes, apartments, offices, and construction sites, often navigating stairs, tight corners, and other obstacles.
- Ensure all items are strategically packed and secured within the truck to maximize space, maintain proper weight distribution, and prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Process customer payments on-site using mobile devices or other point-of-sale systems, ensuring accuracy and providing receipts and final invoices.
- Transport collected materials to designated recycling centers, donation facilities, and transfer stations, correctly sorting and unloading items according to facility guidelines.
- Proactively identify and capitalize on opportunities to generate more revenue by upselling services or distributing marketing materials in service areas.
- Maintain a friendly, positive, and professional demeanor at all times, striving to exceed customer expectations and generate positive reviews and repeat business.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIRs), checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and brakes to ensure the truck is in safe, operational condition.
- Manage on-site logistics and problem-solving, determining the most efficient strategy for item removal to protect customer property from any potential damage.
- Educate customers on our recycling and donation policies, highlighting our commitment to environmental responsibility and diverting items from the landfill.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the truck cab and box, ensuring it presents a professional image and is free of hazards.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and safety gear, reporting any needs or damages to the operations manager.
- Participate actively in daily team meetings to discuss safety topics, review the day's schedule, and share best practices.
- Contribute to a positive and motivational team culture by supporting your crew members and maintaining open communication.
- Accurately complete all required daily paperwork, including route sheets, disposal logs, and customer service agreements.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including wearing the proper uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support marketing efforts by taking photos of completed jobs (with customer permission) or noting potential new client opportunities.
- Provide constructive feedback to management regarding operational efficiency, customer feedback, and safety concerns.

Hard Skills (Technical)
- Valid Driver's License: A current, valid, and clean state-issued driver's license is non-negotiable.
- Heavy Lifting & Physical Stamina: The ability to repeatedly lift and carry 50-75+ pounds, often as part of a team, and sustain physical activity for extended periods.
- Safe Driving Record: A history of safe and responsible driving, with minimal to no traffic violations.
- Experience with Large Vehicles: Prior experience and confidence in operating larger trucks (12-16 ft box trucks or similar) in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Spatial Awareness: Excellent ability to judge distances and navigate tight spaces, both while driving and moving items, to prevent property damage.
- Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and identify potential maintenance issues.
