Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, execute, and moderate a wide range of pre-trial research projects, including multi-day mock trials, single-day focus groups, and online surveys to test case themes and evaluate potential liability and damages.
  • Analyze complex quantitative and qualitative data from research exercises, employing statistical methods and social science theories to identify key drivers of juror decision-making.
  • Develop and refine compelling case themes, narratives, and "theories of the case" that resonate with juror attitudes, beliefs, and life experiences.
  • Craft detailed juror profiles, identifying the characteristics, backgrounds, and attitudes of high-risk versus favorable jurors for a specific case and venue.
  • Provide direct, in-person support to trial attorneys during the voir dire process, including recommending deselection-priority jurors and assisting in the real-time exercise of peremptory and cause challenges.
  • Author and design comprehensive Supplemental Juror Questionnaires (SJQs) to elicit critical information about potential jurors' biases and experiences relevant to the case.
  • Conduct extensive witness preparation and communication training sessions, helping key witnesses (from laypersons to CEOs) deliver clear, credible, and persuasive testimony under pressure.
  • Collaborate with graphic design teams to conceptualize and test the effectiveness of demonstrative aids, trial graphics, and animations to simplify complex information for jurors.
  • Analyze community attitudes and potential venue-specific biases through targeted survey research to inform decisions on change-of-venue motions and overall trial strategy.
  • Observe courtroom proceedings in real-time, analyzing juror non-verbal cues, group dynamics, and reactions to testimony and arguments to provide immediate feedback to the trial team.
  • Conduct confidential post-trial interviews with actual jurors to gather feedback on the effectiveness of the trial presentation, key evidence, and attorney performance for future learning.
  • Prepare and present highly detailed, data-driven reports and strategic recommendations to senior partners, general counsel, and other high-level stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate the complex logistics of research projects, including participant recruitment, venue booking, and secure handling of sensitive case materials.
  • Evaluate the persuasive impact of opening statements and closing arguments through empirical testing and provide specific, actionable feedback for improvement.

Secondary Functions
