Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive background research on potential jurors using public records, social media platforms, and proprietary legal databases to identify life experiences, potential biases, and affiliations.
  • Assist in the drafting and programming of juror questionnaires designed to elicit critical information relevant to case themes and voir dire strategy.
  • Systematically organize, code, and analyze data from supplemental juror questionnaires and in-court voir dire, identifying key patterns and trends.
  • Monitor and analyze online activity and social media profiles of the venire panel in real-time during the jury selection process, adhering to strict ethical guidelines.
  • Help develop and maintain detailed juror profiles, including demographic information, attitudes, and a preliminary rating or "cause" or "strike" recommendation.
  • Provide support for the setup and execution of mock trials and focus groups, including recruiting participants, preparing materials, and managing logistics.
  • Observe mock jury deliberations, taking meticulous notes on juror reactions, key arguments, and group dynamics to help refine trial themes.
  • Compile and synthesize data from mock trial research into clear, concise reports and visual presentations for the legal team.
  • Create and manage complex spreadsheets and databases to track juror information, voir dire responses, and strike patterns throughout the selection process.
  • Assist in the courtroom during voir dire by tracking attorney and juror statements, managing juror data, and providing on-the-fly research support to the lead consultant.
  • Prepare detailed post-trial juror interview questions and assist in conducting interviews to gather feedback on case strategy and presentation effectiveness.
  • Perform venue analysis and community attitude surveys by researching local demographics, media coverage, and relevant social or political issues.
  • Monitor media outlets and online forums for news and public sentiment related to the case, client, or key legal issues.
  • Help create visual aids, graphics, and presentations that distill complex research findings into easily digestible information for attorneys.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive case information and personal data of potential jurors.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the development of case themes and narratives by providing research on how specific concepts might resonate with different demographic groups.
  • Assist in preparing witnesses for testimony by providing feedback from mock trial observations on clarity, credibility, and impact.
  • Manage and archive large volumes of research data and case materials, ensuring a well-organized and accessible digital filing system.
