Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Meticulously processes and screens confidential juror qualification questionnaires to determine statutory eligibility for jury service, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Manages the entire jury summonsing process, from generating and merging source lists to printing and mailing summonses and tracking juror responses.
  • Responds professionally and accurately to a high volume of inquiries from the public, attorneys, and court staff regarding jury service, via phone, email, and in person.
  • Evaluates and processes juror requests for postponement, excusal, or disqualification based on established court policies, state statutes, and judicial guidelines.
  • Facilitates a smooth and orderly jury check-in process on trial days, verifying juror attendance, providing orientation, and addressing initial questions or concerns.
  • Accurately prepares and randomizes jury panels for the voir dire process, ensuring the integrity and impartiality of the selection process in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operates the court's electronic Jury Management System (JMS) to maintain and update juror records, process payments, and generate statistical reports.
  • Provides direct support to jurors during their service, including answering non-legal questions, managing comfort and logistical needs, and ensuring they are in the right place at the right time.
  • Prepares and distributes juror payment checks or electronic payment files, calculating compensation and mileage reimbursement accurately.
  • Maintains highly accurate and confidential records of jury attendance, service history, and payment information, ensuring a clear audit trail.
  • Assists judges and courtroom clerks by escorting jury panels to the courtroom and providing necessary documentation for the jury selection process.
  • Prepares and maintains all necessary forms, letters, and instructional materials provided to prospective and active jurors.
  • Coordinates with other court departments, such as judicial chambers and security, to ensure seamless jury operations on trial days.
  • Generates and mails certificates of service to jurors upon completion of their duty, serving as official documentation for employers.
  • Monitors and manages the petit and grand jury pools, ensuring a sufficient number of qualified jurors are available for all scheduled trials and proceedings.

Secondary Functions

  • Fulfills ad-hoc requests for jury-related statistics and data for court administration and judicial reporting purposes.
  • Assists in ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory of office and jury-related supplies, ensuring operational readiness for trial weeks.
