Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage the end-to-end juror summoning process, including generating, reviewing, and mailing summonses and questionnaires in compliance with statutory timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the public regarding all jury service matters, responding to a high volume of inquiries via telephone, email, and in-person visits.
  • Evaluate and process juror requests for postponement, excusal, or disqualification based on established court rules, policies, and legal statutes, exercising sound judgment.
  • Conduct comprehensive and engaging orientation sessions for new juror panels, clearly communicating their responsibilities, court procedures, and the trial process.
  • Perform daily check-in and processing of jurors, verifying attendance, providing instructions, and assigning jurors to panels for voir dire as directed by the court.
  • Coordinate juror logistics with judges, judicial assistants, and attorneys to ensure the timely and efficient movement of jury panels to and from courtrooms.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the jury assembly room, creating a comfortable, organized, and professional environment for citizens during their service.
  • Accurately calculate and process juror payments, expense reimbursements, and transportation allowances in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain the court’s automated Jury Management System (JMS), ensuring data integrity, performing regular updates, and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Prepare, assemble, and distribute jury panels for various civil and criminal trials, meticulously tracking juror status and availability throughout the day.
  • Maintain and update the master and qualified juror wheels, incorporating data from various source lists (e.g., voter registration, driver's licenses) as required by law.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential, and sealed information with the utmost discretion and integrity, adhering to all court privacy and security protocols.
  • Address and de-escalate juror issues, complaints, or conflicts with patience, professionalism, and a commitment to providing excellent public service.
  • Prepare and generate a variety of statistical reports related to juror utilization, yield, demographics, and attendance for court administration and state reporting.
  • Assist in coordinating special accommodations for jurors with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Provide direct support during the in-courtroom voir dire process, assisting the courtroom clerk in tracking challenges, seating jurors, and managing the panel.
  • Develop, update, and distribute informational materials for jurors, including handbooks, website content, and recorded messages, to ensure clarity and accessibility.
  • Maintain meticulous and auditable records of juror service, attendance, and payment history for legal and administrative purposes.
