Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Assist in the comprehensive management of the jury pool, including processing, qualifying, and summoning prospective jurors in accordance with legal statutes and court rules.
- Provide direct, hands-on support to the Jury Supervisor within the courtroom during the jury selection process (voir dire), meticulously tracking juror responses, peremptory challenges, and for-cause strikes.
- Facilitate the check-in and orientation process for jurors, delivering clear instructions, answering non-legal questions, and ensuring a welcoming and organized environment.
- Prepare and manage the physical courtroom setup for jury trials, ensuring all necessary materials, equipment, and seating arrangements are in place for jurors.
- Act as a primary point of contact for jurors throughout their service, addressing logistical concerns, and safeguarding their comfort and security while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Meticulously maintain and update the jury management system database with juror information, attendance records, payment details, and service history.
- Coordinate juror logistics, including arranging for parking, meals, and, when necessary, sequestration, ensuring all needs are met efficiently and discreetly.
- Draft, proofread, and distribute official communications to jurors, including summonses, questionnaires, and post-service thank-you letters.
- Operate courtroom technology related to jury management, such as electronic presentation systems and juror display monitors, during trial proceedings.
- Uphold the integrity of the trial process by monitoring juror conduct, enforcing court rules (e.g., no electronic devices), and promptly reporting any irregularities to the Jury Supervisor or Bailiff.
- Assist in calculating and processing juror payments and travel reimbursements, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for their civic duty.
- Maintain and organize all jury-related documentation, including confidential questionnaires, attendance sheets, and court orders, for official records.
