Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Actively participate in a structured, hands-on training program, learning to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of major kitchen appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, dishwashers, and microwaves.
  • Shadow and assist senior service technicians on in-home service calls to observe best practices for customer interaction, technical diagnostics, and efficient repair procedures.
  • Learn to accurately read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and service manuals to understand appliance functionality and identify component failures.
  • Develop proficiency in using a variety of diagnostic tools, including multimeters, pressure gauges, and specialized software, to pinpoint electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Perform hands-on repairs under supervision, including the replacement of common parts like motors, pumps, heating elements, control boards, and compressors.
  • Travel to customer locations within a designated service area using a company-provided vehicle, maintaining a professional appearance and a courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to gather information about appliance malfunctions, explain the diagnostic process, and clearly outline the proposed repair solution and associated costs.
  • Master the process of looking up, ordering, and managing necessary repair parts for service jobs, ensuring accuracy to minimize delays and return visits.
  • Maintain the provided service vehicle, ensuring it is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked with common parts and necessary tools.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols and standards, including proper handling of refrigerants (once certified), electrical safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Provide customers with helpful tips on proper appliance usage and routine maintenance to prevent future issues and extend the life of their equipment.
  • Utilize company-provided technology, such as tablets or laptops, to document service calls, process payments, and manage your daily schedule efficiently.
  • Strive to achieve a high "first-call completion" rate by thoroughly diagnosing issues and ensuring you have the necessary parts and skills to complete the repair on the initial visit.
  • Manage and document warranty service claims accurately, following manufacturer-specific procedures and guidelines for reimbursement.
  • Dismantle and reassemble appliances as needed to access internal components for repair or replacement, ensuring all parts are correctly reinstalled.
  • Calibrate newly installed components and run diagnostic cycles to test appliance functionality and confirm the repair has resolved the customer's issue.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of various appliance brands and their unique engineering, from common domestic models to high-end, luxury kitchen systems.
  • Proactively study training materials and attend ongoing manufacturer-led workshops to stay current with the latest appliance technology and repair techniques.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships through reliable service, transparent communication, and a commitment to resolving their appliance problems effectively.
